Fiona Mactaggart MP

Recommended Posts

in the post this morning i recieved a newsletter from fiona mactaggart sent out to young people. in this newsletter is a small article on slough town:

"Fiona regularly supports local groups and organisations. 'Sport helps build our community spirit and i am proud to support our local football team Slough Town.' Fiona has been active in the clubs battle to stop the coucil breaking its promise to find them a new ground."

There is then a picture of her presenting Alex Haddow with his FA cup player of the round award.

i was wondering, seeing as you guys know more about everything than i do, is this really true or is it just a political plan to get more votes?

In addition, Fiona attended the launch evening of the Supporters Trust last year. However, whilst it is pleasing to read that she and Labour are all for supporting sport in the community, including the football club, I think we all need to be wary of being used by politics. We've already suffered that in the last local elections and the aftermath. I'd hoped that we would not get dragged into things again with the general election.

I would like to think that politicians of all persuasions backed the football club. Unfortunately that is not the case. Omce the election campaign starts, it might well be worth raising this issue with other candidates. The will be 2 local MP's to question on this as the south of the borough now comes in the Windsor constituency.

I think this is the person in question.

Would you trust a 'bird' with hair THAT short ??

Having been through the whole chemo thng, people so often make very heartless remarks without thinking or when trying to be funny. On the whole its not funny and and can be really offensive at a time when you're feeling pretty [****!!****] anyway. (getting down off my soap box now)

I agree Kay, I think working here at Wexham makes me realise that you should always think twice before making comments about people.

And well said on your soap box.

May I take this opportunity to wholeheartedly apologise for my previous comment.

I had no idea that Fiona had been treated for cancer.

I wish her well for the future !

Fiona has been a supporter of the Rebels for a long while, she came to the original meeting at the Town Hall years ago. I also saw her walking out side the Houses of Parliment wearing a Slough Town shirt, a few years ago.

So she's not a regular football fan---well at the moment thats over 99% of the population of Slough written off then.

She's been supportive of us, attends the more important events etc, which is not bad. Don't forget that as a Minister and MP she may not have a vast amount of free time.
