Remaining games...

Margate: H v St Albans (win), H v Dorchester (draw), Away v Eastbourne (lose), Away v Havant (draw), Home v Bishop's Stortford (draw). TOTAL POINTS – 46.

Newport: Away v Welling (draw), Home v Bishop's Stortford (draw), Away v Redbridge (win), Home v Thurrock (draw), Away v Lewes (lose), Home v Maidenhead (draw). TOTAL POINTS – 46.

Carshalton: Away v Bishop's Stortford (lose), Home v Weston (draw), Home v Cambridge (lose), Away v Eastbourne (lose). TOTAL POINTS – 45.

Maidenhead: Away v Thurrock (lose), Home v Lewes (draw), Home v Grays (lose), Away v Newport (draw). TOTAL POINTS – 42.

Of course, Redbridge will finish bottom so they, Maidenhead and Carshalton go down. So, we could win only one of our last five games and still stay up!

At this time in the year even draws are sometimes classed as wins. If you get my drift. A point here a point there, just like Newport are doing will help no-end, failing outright wins of course.

Even 5 draws could suffice really. But lets just get those three draws in one game tomorrow night with a win(three points.

Newport: Away v Welling (draw), Home v Bishop's Stortford (draw), Away v Redbridge (draw), Home v Thurrock (draw), Away v Lewes (lose), Home v Maidenhead (draw). TOTAL POINTS – 45.

Carshalton: Away v Bishop's Stortford (draw), Home v Weston (win), Home v Cambridge (lose), Away v Eastbourne (lose). TOTAL POINTS – 48.

Maidenhead: Away v Thurrock (lose), Home v Lewes (draw), Home v Grays (lose), Away v Newport (draw). TOTAL POINTS – 42.

I think that the final stnadings will be:

18. Carshalton 48 points

19. Margate 47 points

20. Newport 45 points

21. Maidenhead 42 points

22. Redbridge very low points (34, perhaps?)

May i add...a very good thread, i think

St.Albans is a MASSIVE game. Without a win tomorrow night these predictions will go out of the window. Three points really needed tomorrow night. Hope the team are revved up fot this one!

I do have a thought of the outcome but with my record as a bok am going to say we will get thrashed, completely outplayed lose 6-0 get 4 players sent off. They will have a tremendous game and no-one will get sent off for them. Their keeper will have a blinder.

There, will that do us all?

49 POINTS SHOULD BE ENOUGH BUT I CANT SEE US GETTING 9 MORE POINTS. EVERYONE PREDICTS A WIN TOMORROW NITE (EXCEPT TONGUE-IN-CHEEK COOKIE RESPONSE)BUT ST ALBANS HAVE BECOME A DECENT OUTFIT UNDER NICK RODDIS EVEN THOUGH THEY LOST ON SAT. REMEBER NOT LONG AGO THEY WERE ROCK BOTTOM AND LOOKED CERTS FOR THE DROP.THINK THAT DEFEAT WILL MOTIVATE THEM EVEN MORE AS THEY ARE STILL IN THE THICK OF THINGS AND REMEMBER STILL NO JK TOMORROW SO UNLESS EDWARDS PLAYS AS SWEEPER I THINK IT WILL LEAVE US EXPOSED AT THE BACK AGAIN. ONE POINT WONT BE THE END OF THE WORLD BUT IT WOULD LEAVE US NEEDING 8 POINTS FROM LAST 4 GAMES IMO, 2 WINS AND 2 DRAWS, UNLIKELY GIVEN OUR AWAY FORM OVER THE SEASON. STILL THINK CARSHALTON WILL GO DOWN EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE CURRENTLY 4 POINTS AHEAD AS THEY HAVE A TOUGHER LOOKING RUN IN PLUS A WORSE GOAL DIFFERENCE SO BETWEEN US MAIDENHEAD AND NEWPORT FOR THE OTHER PLACE. ONLY HOPE IS THEY DONT ACCUMULATE MORE THAN 6 POINTS EACH IN THEIR RESPECTIVE RUN INS.

It looks like Bishops Stortford may hold the key, as they play three of the "contenders" and they have a lot of games left, as well as the 2nd leg of the Trophy on Saturday. I think that they play Newport on Wednesday night - will they be up for it?

Here's hoping that they are absolutely knackered when we meet them in our last game.

Dont think anyones under-estimating the opposition. We know the game is a toughie. We must get them camped in their half and play from there. Keeps all that pressure and uncertainty off our defence. Get up there and just run and run. When they get the ball we must get a man on him immediately and prevent them from playing the ball upfield. Hustle all the time, and cut out the ball sent forward from their defense. Catch them early with 3 quick goals before they settle. Well thats what I would like to see happen anyway.

Alex Ch. can do a decent job hustling in midfield-play him there and Adrian Clarke as wing back.

When defending, put bodies in front of the ball like Custers last stand.

If they do not score, we only need one goal to win.

If they do score we need two goals which is twice as hard to achieve; and when did we last look like getting three goals.

Dfence is the key and as Cookie says that comes by keeping possesion

And if they do manage to run at our defence we mustn't back off as the goal gets bigger in size the further the player gets to the goal. Bill is a prime culprit for this. Stand ones ground and make the player get round but have another player ready and prepared to cover should he succeed.
