NEW DAWN (HOPEFULLY)

Lovely litle ground with a billiard table pitch and nice surrounds were my first impressions. Good crowd looked 700 or so but incredibly quiet. Loads of kids and old age pensioners was true. About 40 gate fans but badlty spread out at start of play. Did think if we get down bottom end with a roof we might make some noise. As said already absolute dire first twenty. They looked tired and not interested to me and the two goals were aweful mistakes billy seemed to leave it for someone else in the box to clear! Second goal quicly followed and only excellent goal work by Trego kept them out as they broke through time after time. Against the run of play and with little time on the clock we attacked well for a change had a ball blocked and then clarky went on a mazy run and was tripped 2 yards from box on his best side. He looked up for the kick and i thought at the time that there goalie was a littly wrongly placed. The kick was possibly going in but some how Rocky got the slightest nick on it with his head and it flew in the right corner to everyones disbelief. This really made a dif and we looked a football team for the last five.

CK kept them in changing rooms for ages the ref had to go and get them by politely knocking on our door. Whatever Ck sayed did the trick cos they were really fired up and the first 10 minutes was all us. Roared, yes roared, on by the now boyed up 35 or so gate faithful we looked like scoring. Watson caused them bother and Rocky won some headers. Che picked up a lose ball beat a player and carresed the ball just a foot inside the right post . Superb. It looked good then for ten or so mins but darren was fading, bless him, and waved to come off. At this time some bizarre refereeing decisions nearly had us climbing the barrier when the full back picked the ball up with his hAnd after a tackel and gave, yes gave, himself a free kick. Of course with us all up it looked odds on they would score but fortunately they cocked it up.

Trego then earnt his Donalds on the service station going home as he made three or more outstanding saves as we faded. The Gate support just carried on singing and compared to 3.20 it looked like a different team out there battling to the end.

We missed Keister cos he would not have allowed the heads to drop alarmingly after just 20 mins. Moses afterwards came over to thank the crowd as did most of the others particularly Billy no hair.

Very hard to make a realistic judgement of this game it seemed to be in several sections but oh dear after twenty i wanted to leave!!!!!!!!

Great fight back and Tuesday becomes almost too much to bear. However i still think it may come down to last game. Yep with the point three wins def safe.

Don't get me wrong, I dearly want us to escape the dreaded drop but who are the three teams we are going to beat in our current form. Yes we battled back to get a crucial draw but from the reports it appears we were abysmal at times and lucky to get a point. And we are still in the relegation zone. I think 3 wins from 5 is too big an ask now. Other teams like sutton and maidenhead are picking up wins and Newport may only be drawing but their recent form isn't that bad so I really can't see how we are going to get out of this. No JK again Tues and Oatsey now out for remainder makes things even more difficult. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

I think we can look back at two teams that may cost us relegation. We have -18 GD, higher than the other relegation teams. One team responsilble, 11 goals against by Grays. The second, the 1-0 deficit against Carshalton. If we had won we would be above them and with better GD above Newport. Lets hope for good run, but its goint to be very hard now. Very hard to swallow the posts referring to heads down very early on in yesterdays game. Lets have some of that CK magic and lots of vocal support on Tuesday.

The fact is there is very little to pick between most of the teams in this league. St Albans, Dorchester and Stortford at home are all moderate teams and all are beatable.

Looking at Geoffs write up it appears that again CK has ranted and raved at half time and they have come out fighting. Why is this fighting spirit not being produced from the start. How many times this season has it been a rollicking at half time for them to produce the goods. Even the Grays match I think they kept a clean sheet for 40 minutes in the 2nd half.
