Tend to agree Merv.

We need to get on with supporting the club however we as individuals see fit - whether it be singing, clapping, drumming or bugle playing.

However, if the chants are aimed at individuals who support the same club as the initial post seems to imply then this is wrong and the club needs to deal with it.

I have said on a previous post that I don't mind singing along at away games, but tend to stand on the main terrace during home matches and I'm quite happy just cheering and clapping at home games - full credit to those that went into the bus shelter and made some noise. Also please remember that the atmosphere at Barnet was not just the normal individuals but a lot of supporters, some of whom I had not seen at more distant away games - we all joined in and got behind our club. This is not always possible for fans at home games.

I have seen all these arguements on other forums and the next arguement will be the language. I've been around a bit and swearing doesn't generally offend me - and I do tend to dish it out a little - but there seemed like quite a few youngsters in the crowd on Saturday perhaps due to the kid for a quid initiative and some of the swearing may have been a little to much.

We have longed for an atmosphere at the Lane - so lets encourage it but perhaps guide it in the right direction that gets behind the team both home and away.

I think all supporters are extremely welcome and anyone would agree including Micky Carlton he's been a loyal supporter for many years and wouldn't be making these chants to affend anyone, i think this has been taken all the wrong way. I can't understand that if you have a problem with someone why you need to start a whole page on offending that person and not actually taking it up with that person yourself. i think this is more offensive than what Micky Carlton has ever said. [color:"pink"] [/color]

As another of the YA, i didn't sing the Who the f"!k song, as i don't really like it, and as for the kids, most of the swearing was coming from them, well where we were, it was! YELLOW BUNGLE the songs sung are pretty much standard fare for footy clubs around the country, with key words replaced. Also speaking to management and players alike, they appreciate our more vocal style of support even if you don't, and the general question is why don't the rest of them join in?. You've all put your opinions and reasons forward, most in a eloquent way, but if you can find it within to join in, even if it's just on occasions, it will help. What would the Port vale game away have been like without the drums(plural) and the 120 mins constant singing, also the trophy games such as Chester away and the final. As Merv said let's stop the back biting, andf get behind the team, in whatever way you feel fit!!

APART FROM CONSTANT MOANING!!!!

In all fairness I think a division has always existed between the Yellow Army and the now dubbed "Cardboard Army!". One of the main problems is that we simply don't make enough noise (last few games excluded).

It is frustrating when we're in the main stand and there's only 20 or so people singing, so frustrating that we went back in the bus shelter and arguably spurred the team on the get a valuable point with some fantastic noise. Hopefully we can now make that the home of the YA as the atmosphere was the best I've heard home or away in ages.

I can however understand why some people don't want to sing, especially if they have young children. I can appreciate that sometimes the language can get out of hand, but personally I feel that this has improved no end this year and that all bad language is used mostly with ironic or comical intentions.

However, I went to see Fulham v Portsmouth on Sunday and there was a great atmosphere. Even though I'd say only about 20% of Fulham fans were singing, nearly all other were clapping in time with the songs and generally making noise without actually singing. Looking up at the stand I could see 10-15 people clapping along when "Yellow Army" was in full flow, it would be great to have this spread across the main stand.

You don't have to sing but some form of visual support would look good for the players who are used to looking up to a sea of motionless people. It's no coincidence that when the goals go in or the results go well the players come over to where the singing lot are, and as Kingy said in the NLP, "the fans were magnificent and we repaid them." You don't need two guesses to tell who he was referring to.

I thought you went back to the bus shelter in the second half because the noise levels were lower and it was more difficultto make yourselves heard - not because others weren't joining in.

I must admit the volume is far, far greater when in the shelter and it is worth making your "home". I could hardly hear the YA when it went back to the terrace. Its always been better even when the likes of Bedford and others in the past have stood in sea wall end shelter.

I think this is always one of the problems when there are no stands to amplify any singing, clapping or whatever - hopefully a new ground will allow for this as well.

It's obvious that your singing has done a lot to encourage the team - again well done and I'm sure others will join in due course.

POB posting.

Wonder what the away fans will make of that chant.

Heard a story the other day from my brother in law who years ago took his mate to watch Southend. His mate was just getting into football and they were in the area where most chanting was going on.

The main chant was “blue army”, but his mate thought they were saying “who are we”. After a while, he got quite bold and summoned up the courage to start the next chant. So he started shouted “who are we” “who are we” and everyone just turned round at him in silence.

Well I thought it was amusing!

I do find it irritating when people just stand there and don't seem interested in the game. Unfortunately on Saturday I was in the bikesheds singing and chanting in the first half but then lost my voice due to a heavy cold and throat problem. I made things worse by screaming my head off at Macca's goalm meaning my throat was in severe pain for several hours afterwards!!

The support the last couple of games has been amazing. I know the management and players have acknowledged this and I put several comments in my programme column recognising what great support the Yellow Army have provided recently.

I hope people read that and say I want a bit of that. It's not about singing but positive vocal encouragement recognising and praising when a player has done something well or not lambasting someone's mistakes.

I tend to be a bit of a shouter and have had a few George Borg moments when I've completely lost it. I know some people are more reserved but a bit of positive support would go down well rather than the negative vibes I sometimes hear around me.

richard!! What sort of excuse is that, surely you could have fitted the nuptials at half time and slipped off after the game to consecrate the event.

Congratulations!!!!!!

I think Mick Carlton (my dad) is not an embarasment and just a loyal supporter who wants everyone to sing and be part of the Yellow Army. We moan about our support but then we get a few hundred people who just stand their doing nothing. You come to a football match to support your team so do it and stop complaining about my dad!!!!!!!!!!!
