'Cardboard Cutouts!'

In recent weeks Micky 'The Mouth' Carlton has taken it upon his shoulders to abuse a large number of people who support Canvey (but do not join in the Yellow Army's singing) and call them CARDBOARD CUTOUTS.

I take it from this attitude that CIFC DO NOT WANT supporters who don't sing and shout for 90 minutes? Has he asked himself why these people are like they are? Some people just are not as outgoing as those who join in and sing.

Whether singers and shouters or not, these people are still supporters of Canvey Island AND DO NOT DESERVE to be made to feel uncomfortable at the Lane just because they do not want to sing!

Maybe if he carries on abusing, shouting and starting 'cardboard cutout' songs at these people they will stop coming altogether. That will knock roughly 500-600 people off of the average home gate. Where would CIFC be then?

Every person who pays their money at the gate has the right to support OUR club in their own way. Just by standing their they are supporting the team. Wouldn't it look ridiculous if only people who sung were allowed through the turnstiles! We'd have an empty stadium bar 30-40 people in the bus shelter going F*****G MENTAL!

Don't get me wrong, the YA's support today was first class for an entire 90 minutes. Good luck to them too, they enjoy themselves in their own way so they should let others do the same.

Hey Mickey your so fine, your so fine you blow my mind Hey Micky!

Who the F&*K is Mick Carlton and

Who the F&*K are you.

Must confess I do not really sing a lot but I occassionally shout the odd well done lads, an odd clap here and there and I have even been known to question the fellow in blacks heritage all quite loudly.

Do I qualify.

I think I am a bit old and they would need a [****!!****] lot of boxes to make one of me.

Dont get me wrong MOB, I'm not getting at anyone who supports Canvey, I just dont like the cardboard cutout songs and abuse given to those who dont wanna sing with the YA.

If you pay your money you support in your own way.

And BTW, I think 99% of those who turn up have their say at the men in black!

Is he that little bloke who got kicked out of Gravesend?

I do not know everyone around the club because I go I pay me money I cheer on me team and then, I go home.

I have not really got involved, I havent missed more than about two home games in about 3 years and I go to all away games within two hours drive, dont mean I know everyone.

No,I dont think its kids just every supporter who decides that they do not wish to sing! I agree with the chap who stated this, I also go to each and every game and therefor pay at the gate, I therefor support my team. I have a crap singing voice and dont feel I should have to sing to prove my support.

Mr. Carlton comes into disrepute once again and at a time when the club is trying to attract support.

You not the only one who has a crap singing voice mate, the whole of the YELLOW ARMY have (including myself <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />) thats why weve got the drum to drown our voices out. LOL

The cardboard cutouts song wasnt intent on offending anyone it was just a bit of a laugh so sorry if it has offended. It just seems to be the same 20-30 of us that are singing but we really want others to join in as it adds to the atmosphere which is what needed.

As you say, you pay your money on the gate so you surporting yor team and have the right to surport your team in what manor you like buut if you ever fancy having a good sing song, your more than welcome to join the party

I do not know this fellah but its a bit harsh people slaggin him off.

1. He is not on here to answer back.

2. It seems all the posters having a pop at this chap are not registered, so they are not answerable to his face.

Seems a tade sneaky to me.

I have no view either way, Cardboard cut out I asked who you were and who he was. You came forward with who he was, you have not said who you are.

I have to admit I stood behind the goal second half as my throat was absolutely killing me and I couldn't sing any more. The amount of whinging, moaners was amazing. People are entitled to their opinions but I got so many negative vibes off them!!

The cardboard cutout song was more of an in joke really aimed at the regulars who go home and away on the coach and don't get involved in the singing. There is always a bit of banter about this and we all know each other well and have a laugh and joke about it. It was all pretty harmless really.

The chanting at recent games has become a bit aggressive - particularly the "Who the F***ing H*** are you?" chants. Where do you lot think you are - 1979? Just grow up, if you've got to sing, and I'd rather you didn't, try to be imaginative and witty. Not just tw*ts. And I don't know your name, but the 40 year old in the Debenhams rugby shirt, my you're so 'ard giving the w*nker sign to the away supporters. Like to see you do that if we ever play Millwall.

I'm just getting tired of you lot and judging by this thread I'm not the only one.

Micky Carlton has always been an embarrasment to CIFC, why on earth is he allowed to behave in this manner as an employee of the club is beyond me.... It is about time that the club took action or kicked him out for good. The likes of Micky Carlton have no place in today's game....

Yes he is welcome to defend his behaviour on here, and I would also love to know how he justifies his abuse.... Clubs like Gravesend do not kick out an employee of the opposition without good cause....

Make CIFC a place for families or all the hard work done by Chris Gardner and the supporters club is in vain....

Like MOB, most would be unaware of his employment at the club....

.. i think the lads doing the singing were excellent.. plus all getting together in the bus stop so those who want to join in can and those who dont fancy it have plenty of space themselves.. been years since i have heard 'lets go f..king mental'.. as for the odd w.anker sign, big deal that stuff goes back n forth the whole game, now all the swearing singing n jumping is in one part of the ground i dont really think anyone can complain about a bit od industrial language.. keep it up lads, great to see them all carrying on after we went 2-1 down

Seems it doesn't need any Gravesend of Southend fans to come onto our message board and have a pop at us - we are making a very good job of it ourselves.

Shall we call a halt to this one now and concentrate ALL our efforts into supporting our club as we battle to stay up? Whether that support is by singing or by clapping enthusiatically, there is room for all.

I really admire the YA who have taken the challenge to get behing the team to heart and Saturday was exceptional support. In turn, I believe that the rest of us more passive supporters lifted our general volume as I was told that the cheer for our equaliser could be heard down at the Labworth cafe. So let's not slag each other off, just accept that we all love our club but have different ways of showing it.

As for Micky Carlton, let's not start a witch-hunt by anonymous posters. If he is out of order, let the club deal with him in the appropriate way which will not involve putting nasty comments here.

Well done to the YA. Well done to the other, less vocal supporters. Stop the bickering between ourselves and get behind the team in any way we can. After all, that's the reason we go down to The Lane on a Saturday, surely?
