Just been on the phone to Adam who was at todays game. He said Trego was awesome second half, especially in last ten minutes but it turned into a game we could have won. Margate crowd sang whole of second half. Bognor fans were twats.MMMMMMMAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNCCCCCCCCCCCCHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Actually most Bognor fans were pensioners-never been to a game where crowd was so old.

In my forties, i felt positively youthful.

early quick report:

First half we were absolutely terrible.

Did not seem to have any passion from kick off and deteriorated even more, even starting bickering amongst the players-no one seemed to care.

There was quite a strongish wind againgst us in first half, but that was no excuse for playing so poorly.

Two quick goals midway through half-both similar-from right hand flank with Charamb nowhere to be seen, low balls to centre right across face of goal and forwards force the ball home with the 'defence' nowhere .

Frankly disgraceful defending, but you also have to say that midfield was non existent in first half and allowed Bognor to dominate.Heads really dropped, no-one seemed to care and i could see a 7-0 thrashing coming up.Bognor were all over us and could easily have scored a couple more at least.Trego made a couple of decent saves aswell.

You could not blame the strong wind-we were simply awful.

5 mins from half time-a lifeline from Clarke-completely against run of play-excellently taken free kick from edge of box curled high into corner-not down that end so others could describe better.

We could still have conceded a couple more as Bognor also hit post late in half.

CK was i imagine less than polite at half time as we then started second half with some fight and for 20 mins dominated as Bognor failed to cope with the wind and decent Margate play, but again whilst wind was a factor against both sides, on a really good pitch, it was not that bad conditions.

We got an early equaliser as Che strode through and hit low curler from just inside box(why dont we shoot more often-we may find it helps score goals).

We were on top and darren also broke through 2 0n 1 with Rocky free-Darren either had to find unmarked Rocky or shoot himself-unfortunately his pass hit the defenders leg and chance was gone.Really that was last real chance as Bognor came into it more and rest of half was fairly even.

Moses came on for Darren and we lost all penetrative threat.

Trego did make a few good saves including one superb stop in 80th minute, leaping to his right -brilliant stop.

We also had a few referees decisions go against us putting us under pressure.Think Che and Gradley got booked.

Have to say that after an awful first half, Charamb shoewed strenght of character to play fairly well second half.Similarly Edwards who played quite well in a sweeper role in second half, but was similarly awful in first 45 minutes.

Overall we were marginaly the poorer side, but yes we could equally have won it on early second half performance;and the players and management deserve credit for coming back from 2-0 down(could have and probably ought to have been 4-0)and putting up a fight.Hopefully they can take some encouragement and a bit more confidence into the next two games from which we must get 6 points of frankly will definately go down. Can the players take that pressure ?

Best players for Margate were Clarke-not at best but his goal gave us a lifeline, and for decent second half performances only-Gradley,Trego and CK surely for saying the right things at half time.

Benevides had another quiet game ,but in so doing ,so did their left flank and we were not seriously threatened on that side so he did his job ok. Was consistent and contained any threat so really he did well.Just a bit wasted in that role.At end of game he was flat on his back-either injured or most likely just exhausted.Think the pressure/no. of games is getting to him but he is a good player in the making

For first half performance all get 0 out of ten and for first time ever, i almost was going to leave after 35 minutes -it really was that embarrasssing.

At the end of match, most of the forty or so fairly vocal Margate fans went home happy although i have major concerns about relegation, as we are sure to drop home points aswell.

Surely now CK must bring Green back at left back.

Even if he does not even kick the ball or tackle, his positional sense and running to cover would be a vast improvement on what is occuring down that flank.Alex is not a wing back-no fault of his-he has a role to play in his scurrying around and harrowing in midfield but is a disaster at left back.Worse way,Clarke should play there and play Alex in midfield .

(JK and Greg in the stands offering support and we wore black socks)

Interested to hear how others saw things

First half was a disgrace. We gave away two terrible goals. Our goal before half-time was not deserved but was a lifeline.

Second half we started really well and Che scored a splendid goal. Near the end Bognor pressed and Trego made a great save from a close range header.

I am feeling more optimistic despite us staying in the drop zone. Newport spurned another winnable home game.

6 points from the next two games or we will definately go down-What kind of attitude is that!

Lets take the positives out of the game:

we showed fight, all be it after going 2 down

we scored some goals at last

newport drew

The Gate can build on this performance and we can stay up.

I think that we only had two shots on goal. The first, the free kick from Clarke was deflected, otherwise thw keeper would have got it. Che's goal was quality, curled into the bottom left hand corner.

Darren looked as though he was struggling with an injury, before he went off. We were second best as a side, but it was an excellent battling performance after going 2 down.

I would like to see Greenie given a run on Tuesday and with JK back we have to be optimistic.

If it's any consolation, the reporter on the Sussex radio said that Che's goal was a peach of a curling shot, which it absolutely was, and in the second half the opposition, and I quote "flapped like wet cod on a Bognor beach", plus he told the subs not to go to the dressing room because of the shouting coming out. So not all bad then.

Thing is, they were the better side but we made the most of what we had and the chances that presented, and grabbed a very useful point. Do not underestimate the power of making a terrific comeback, and scoring to boot, and twice at that. I think that today will have helped the team's morale no end and that will stand us to the good in forthcoming games.

Also, we got behind them with wall to wall singing second half, and in the words of my heroine Delia, the twelth man stood up and was counted. The guys out there both need and respond to it so let's do it to the end of the season.

The beautiful pitch and smashing clubhouse (and good beer), not to mention the wonderfully scenic drive down, made it a great day out.

Trego exceptional second half, Pat Gradley solid on the ball with some beautifully placed accurate passes, Che stunning performance, but give them all their due, they fought hard for this result. Watson was at times breathtaking with his speed, and the delicacy of his touch, despite his size. At one moment he had the beating of three of theirs with a hop, skip and a dance.

I have taken heart from this result.
