The Legend Called Jeff Trice

Just spent the last hour or so Ploughing through the history of MFC according to the man the myth the legend Jeff Trice. May I encourage all of you who have supported margate for many years to fill in the memories section, by far my favourite. If you've started recently supporting margate its the place to get all your facts, and one more question, is Chris Kinnear the best manager we have ever had?

If he keeps going then yes, but at the moment my favourite is Almer.

Cheers for the vote of confidence, don't think I quite qualify for 'legend' status but Chris Kinnear and Almer Hall certainly do. Think you'd have to go with CK as our best-ever manager all things considered.

No question, Jeff T has done a great job and surely his site is a model for all football history sites.

 

With regard to Almer Hall v Chris Kinnear, having supported Margate throughout both reigns (I might have even seen one of Charlie Walker's teams but then I was a child prodigy supporter)I have to go with CK.

 

Almer Hall did a great job for Margate and brought some great players to the club but he didn't have to contend with what CK has had to.

 

I look forward to the day when CK has a clear run at it again.

And a clear run he will have, lets not forget in our first season in the conference we managed 8th and could have easily built on that if we stayed at hartsdown. We now have to get there again

IMO The question Is Chris Kinnear the best manager we have ever had ,is the same sort of question Is Phil Collins the best striker we have ever had!! Again IMO I believe both of them run paralel at Margate.Neither had the easiest of starts here,but they both contributed to the success of getting us into the Conference.Chris for signing Phil and Phil for scoring the goals However at the time CK always said at the time, we are a team with no superstars.However seeing as how Chris was in charge of them, if based on success then CK has to be our most successful manager.But times change,attitudes differ now ,more pressures,playing styles change, and although Charlie and Almer encouraged good attacking play,who can forget season 66/67 and 67/68 apart from a promotion and a couple of cup ties including SPURS.I do not think the club had a lot to show for their efforts.Where as CK won success for us several seasons on the trot.I still think it is a difficult one to call!! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
