phew!!

typical ESL game. tuesday night at southend manor. when we got there pitch was atrocious. worst ive seen this season, although when it got dark and the lights went on it improved!! funny how that works. luckily it got some well needed rain to soften it up. we suffered two early scares. a challenge on the keeper was deemed unfair although we thought it had been given as a goal and a strange penalty decision was give...they hit the post!! we created chances and a tim o reilly header was cleared off the line and we looked very dangerous from set pieces.

 

second half the defence carried on its tremendous form restrictin manor to little but a few corners, which was a concern with their strength and they caused a few heart flutters!!

 

on 80 mins as we were discussin how bad the ref had been it was our turn to be awarded a penalty. jamie gray stepeed up and slotted it in..after about a 5 minute delay as manor made 2 subs!!(clever!) then after we had one more scare with the ball being cleared off the line from a corner and looking to pump it in the corner tim popped up with a cheeky nutmeg and cross for danny jones to head in after a great 'superman' from manors keeper!!!

 

it definately was a game we had to win after enfield won there saturday and if we had not won the pressure on saturdays game would have been enormous. last season we would have conceded the pen and got beat 3-0 but something has changed and it is great to be involved in.

 

cant see anything else but a decider between the top 2 end of april now. would like to see a massive crowd and maybe some people behind choppers goal!!!

we shall see. cant ever take anyone lightly in this division and have tough game saturday at barkingside and the week after at concord.

 

however i do not think enfield will be so far ahead of us that the game will not be of relevance. if we are 3 points ahead or 3 points behind it will have a lot riding on it.
