On Reflection

The following are my views and my not be shared by many others, but I think they need to be said:-

I think that judging by the posts made after the game against Slough on Easter Monday that quite a few people are not best pleased.

On this I would tend to agree to a point.

Yes, it was very dissapointing to lose to our local rivals / tennants espescially after what has been banded around in the press and on the meassage boards, but I think eveyone needs to take a step back and look at the bigger picture.

For me Dave Carroll has been put in charge to try and solidify a team that can survive for this year and then build in time for next season. Personally with a fully fit squad he isn't far off. Yes we do need a couple of additional players but this is the worst time of the season to try and get them. Most clubs are either trying to keep hold of their players as they are pushing to win their respective division or releasing the ones that are not good enough to lessen their wage bill for a season in a lower division. The ones we want aren't available and the ones that are available are not good enough.

It has been obvious that Dave has made a big effort to find players to make the squad better and I know for a fact that he has been let down by a few players and other clubs that have said players are available and then come up with loads of excuses as to why we can't have them.

The clubs directors have been very accomadating in this by helping Dave in everyway to get these players without putting the club in finacial trouble.

Another thing that has been looking good recently is that for the first time in a longtime we have some half decent players coming through from the reserve team. In the last couple of seasons we were lucky if we saw one decent player. In fact the on two that had done any damage in the past two seasons were Iain Gardiner and Morgano Gomis. When Chuck took over the reserves in December he brought in a lot of Morrocan players and everyone's first thought was they would be no good, well at least two (Belal Aiteouakrim and Hamid Harrak) have shown that they have the ability to mix it with the best teams in this division. There are also another couple of the Morrocan's that have shown promise enogh to havebeen signed on Ryman forms. We have also seend Dominic White and Adam Goldie put in some very good performances making at least four decent players to come out of the reserves in the past three months. More than in the past two years.

What I think people need to do is just look at what the entire squad, first and reserves, have to offer and not get hung up on the eleven that played the last game.

Every club hits a spate of injuries and suspensions in their season and for once we have a manager that has tried to fix the problem and get on with his job rather than sit back and let nature take it's course.

As for the select few that found it funny to shout resign at Dave after the game. That has to be the most out of order thing I heard all day. Just remember he was dropped in at the deep end when Dennis left us and personally I think he has done a tremendous job keeping the squad together and the majority of his signings have been good ones and he has also proven that he will take no nonsense from the players. There will be changes but it is too late for this season. Let's just see out this season and see what next season brings us.

There has also been a lot of posts made about money owed by Slough. My advice to everyone is say nothing. We have been told one thing and by the sounds of it Slough have been told something else. At the end of the day there are only two people that have all the facts and they are Peter Simpson and Martyn Deaner. Let them sort it out. It is not the problem of the supporters all it does is cause ill feeling and start pointless arguments. To all those who have been finding it a great laugh to add fuel to this argument please stop and let those who know what they are talking about get on with it. At least that way it might actually get sorted.

Speculation will continue whilst no formal statement has been made.

The last contact the average supporter of Slough had with Martyn Deaner was on the 6th August 2004.

With newspaper reports "quoting" Mr Simpson last week what is to be belived.

Both Windsor and Slough fans need clarification of the situation as the majority can see the benifits of the two teams playing at Stag Meadow - Windsor get additional income and Slough a tempory home until something "permenant" is established.

There will be rivalry between the two teams as shown yesterday and I think both groups would not want it any other way - however working together at Stag Meadow makes sence.

Lets have some clarity from above please.

Not knocking Carroll over that performance. it's the teams. THEY can play better than that. Apart from Spenny. Spenny Out

Oh dear, the anonymous one has appeared again.

You might find that you comments are taken a little more seriously when you put your name against them.

Malc that was me woody.

Spenny puts the effort in but he clearly isn't good enough for a starting place and possibly even the bench.

When's Lee Holsgrove back?

Oh how i wish we still had Gomis

Malc good post, Dave in my opinion has done a tremendous job since taking over (as has Paul Holsgrove and the Colonel), I for one can't wait until next season when he can really get his feet under the table, and get the players he wants in. Regarding shouts of resign if Dave is reading this, not one single genuine and loyal Windsor fan wants that to happen he has every single fans backing, and the whole atmosphere down the club at the moment is really good, and he deserves a lot of credit for that. That was no doubt from one of the rent a crowd that appears at the big games. Dave knows the genuine fans and he knows we're fully behind him. That was a good piece Malc, and I support 110% everything you put...now there's a first!

Spot on Mal and Geggy.

But Staines Rebel also has a good point. The supporters have no God-given right to know what is going on behind the scenes, but so long as we don't speculation is bound to breed, and it's sometimes difficult to tell the diference between idle speculation and deliberate disinformation.

The majority of fans from both clubs recognise the advantages of our current arrangement and want to work together (except for 180 minutes each season!).

I have enough trust and respect for our directors to be confident that we will be told what we can be told as soon as it is possible. Until that happens, fans of both clubs should keep an open mind and avoid accusations and recriminations on a matter where we don't have all the facts.

On the Dave Carroll situation, in my opinion he is doing a great job in very difficult circumstances. In the meantime we will probably be finishing the season with two or three key players missing and the team needs the full support of all fans, which includes no sledging of the manager and the squad players.

PS How many Murphys are there at Slough now? Are you trying to do a Holsgrove on us?

Just the two. And they're not related

We also have two Masons (not sure if Jonny is on Ryman forms but he's been playing for the ressies) and I believe they are brothers.

Jonny's not on Ryman forms as he's with Marlow I think.

Sid, great post. Agree totally. Nobody aside from Peter and Martyn know the full details I'm sure and between them it will be sorted.

Despite the banter (frequent!), I do believe the two clubs supporters do want to work together, so there should be a future for us both (somewhere, somehow!)

Anyone who thinks Carroll is doing a bad job needs their head checked. Look at the players we've lost in the summer and then during the season. Alot of them the team was built around weather or not that was the right thing to do.

As for off the pitch why would Peter Simpson lie? It makes alot more sense for Slough to lie....

How dare you make such an allegation of people lying when you have absolutely no idea what is going on, as is the case for most of us!

And who is this "Slough" you refer to as lying?

Furthermore, when and where did Peter Simpson say that the rent had not been paid? He could have done in the press statement on Friday, but didn't.

If it hasn't, and I have no more idea than you, it seems strange he hasn't complained to the League as he was threatening to do if the payment due in August was late, and why say he wants that payment on time - that's the last of his worries if the current season has not been paid?

Slough fans do not like the position the club finds itself in, but it is not their fault and snide accusations like that aimed at Slough folks in general don't help. Slough fans have contributed a lot of cash to your facilities in the bar and teabar and there is a group who have done things around the ground - calling them liars is not constructive, when it is down to the Owners to sort it out, as quite a few people have told you.

Well someone is being lied to. Either Windsor or Slough FANS.

I'm not knocking the Slough fans. I think everyone knows the hard work they've done around the ground plus supporting their club in anyway possible.

Staines game is when we were told the rent was not paid...

Last i shall say on the matter

No. It's not saying Slough did lie...one set of fans are being lied to that is for sure and i'm just trying to guess why Windsor fans would be lied too...cannot think of a reason...but i can for Slough.

I stand by my comment but would like to make it clear i'm NOT saying Slough are lieing

End Of.

I did not hint at any of that....
