As for the PA system, yes i agree entirely, you do have to strain to hear much, and i wasnt within blast radius when the teams were announced

I know I don't do it anymore, but Gazza and his helpers have improved it ten times on what it was when I had to struggle with it last year, many more speakers all round the ground and more "wallop" now too - any problems today were down to sheer numbers in the ground and I'm sure you'll all be able to hear the announcements on Saturday above the noise of Yeading's following!!!
BTW 1547 was a fantastic gate today, even bigger than our home game with Exeter and second only to the FA Cup tie with Stevenage (yes, I do know we were "away"!) and with the "away" side bringing even more than those two Conference sides and singing louder and longer it made for a sensational atmosphere. Well done if you have a sore throat today...

Not criticising any of the people involved with the PA, just think the tech could do with a bit of upgrading. Im not technically minded on these sort of things as you can tell. Its not the volume thats the problem its the clarity.

The singing was superb from all today, i have a bloody sore throat but it was more than worth it.

By the way, some intersting views from chelmsford fans on their forum

Check out the match report by someone called andy rafferty ( i think). Good night all

Well this is a case of not pleasing everyone all the time and I will have my rant.

The PA has been upgraded, a (undisclosed) supporter paid £1,200 for it to be upgraded. We had people complaining it was too loud and now people complain they can't bloody hear it...make your bloody minds up!!!

We do know there are "sound" holes where the sound doesn't reach but this will be inevitable with this system and we need another four speakers for the corners. We are looking into it but we do have other things round the club to pay for (a carpet in the club house - a suugestion for a "donation"?)

We also are looking to put a sound mixer in with two CD trays to control the volume level and give the PA operator more control of the sound level and music for your entertainment.

I must say I was not impressed with the announcements yesterday. The guy didn't do a check of the speakers and sound by doing a walk round. We do. I don't think he was using the new mic's either, or got the speaker levels right. There was also no music. We provide music. We also provide information and some people people have been impressed!!!

Putting the system in took time and favours...time from myself, Ron Symes, JR and Dilbert and a favour from a professional PA installer Phil, who donated his services for free, about four days in total of climbing, drilling, bolting, wiring, digging a couple of trench's and laying of wire, not to mention our club chairman's patience (who's suggestions were valuable for those of us working round the club)!!!

The music is chosen by myself and I do try to cater for all tastes within reason and there are those that do have an imput (Justin, sometimes the players, Steve Kent and other supporters as well as BBC's TOTP top 40). The announcements are made to give out information and are made 45 minutes from the start of the game, promoting what is on, what is going on and welcoming the visiting club!!! Quite hard work (I'm not looking for thanks here - I enjoy it). When I make a sub announcement and a goal announcement, I can hear it around the ground!!! Perhaps the supporters concentration on the game blocks this out!!!

To be honest, those that do nothing but complain can (or point out the failings of the system) can get off their arses and do something round the club because those people obviously don't consider the work people put into this club from the chairman to a 50/50 seller!!! We rely on these people, they don't get paid, they do it for the love of the club and even though they don't ask for praise or "thank you's", they don't expect people pointing out the "failings of their work".

I will point out that suggestions are very welcome but make them constructive. If you can't, either offer to do something round the club yourself and help out or shut up, pay your money and enjoy the afternoon or evening!!! We are there to "serve" and make the experience as enjoyable for everyone as we can!!!

The best thing about yesterday was to see how much winning meant to the players. If we are going to win the league that extra determination could prove decisive.

It was also good to see some of the players celebrating the win at Dukes last night. The only down side was that they were certainly not drinking orange juice

I thought it was a pen. It looked like Pat sat down won the ball in the orginal challenge but then foul the man, which, as the commentators discussed during a game on tv (was it England?) is still a foul.

I thought everyone played well for us, Matt Game doesn't normally get much of a mention but I thought he was excellent on the wing.

First time I have seen Chelmsford play and I was surprised how poor they were, the keeper looked like the only player who was going to score (and not from the spot). Have they always played like that or have they got carried away since he scored against Braintree?

I expect it may be tougher in a few weeks. Hope not.

Think we expected more of our lads but we had also played an extra game in mid-week and, unlike you, are not full-time. You looked a lot fitter and kept a high tempo throughout the game - total
control for 90+ mins. Thought Yeading played better football when saw them earlier in season but don't think they will compete so would expect you to win.

hmm....so similar to the abuse I got when walking past one of your blue shirted morons round the ground with my two sons.....pretty clever stuff
in front of youngsters, eh???

Try again...all clubs have a minority cretin
element, Gazza.......as well you know.....

I know...so why moan about someone who comes on here and "gives it".

As for Mel, i agree that he gets the fans nervy, but i still cant judge him as a keeper, as in the three games ive seen him he hasnt been seriously tested (apart from the pen obviously).

I think Mel's a very reliable and solid keeper, I have no worries about him. I wouldn't mind if either Mel or Gothard played the rest of the season.

I think any keeper would have trouble with the uber route one tactics of sticking the ball 50 yards into the 6 yard box, and having read there message board looks like alot of teams do. If you don't come out, the ball can go anywhere and if you do come out you have to get through a ruck of about 15 players. Looks quite effective, just not exactly nice to watch.

thought we looked very very solid yesterday. Nathan was superb and took his goals very well. I wonder if Nicholls had been a little taller if he may have got to one of them.

I thought what was really good for us is that we have some real quality on the bench. I think matt game has played really well but he doesnt put in crosses like Kieran does so thats going to be an interesting fight for the position.

I thought Ross was a real handful when he came on.

Ive seen City's number 5 a few times and he looked a solid defender but nathan really got him wound up.

I cannot believe that the ref ran 20 yds to get the ball for chelmsford. I ammit it looked as if Henty had let the ball run past him when he could have stopped it but since when does a ref retrieve the ball for a team. i thought is was against the rules for a start.

I would expect a tougher game when we play them next. They will have nothing to play for except pride and will want to make amends so lets hope the lads can maintain this amazing run of form of late.

well done the lads. great stuff.
