Hornchurch O Weymouth 2

Urchino

Recommended Posts

Just got back - after a trip to Chesil Bank which was a wasted effort as the fog clamped down, followed by a much more enjoyable ride through the New Forest - the ponies are really big when you are close up to them. Nice birds at Radipole as well - I particularly ilked the great black backed gulls.

Urchins were a bit unlucky to lose - they had some great chances, and deserved to get something out of it.

The first Weymouth goal was thanks to a referee error in giving a free kick the wrong way, and Jackson scored from the resulatant centre.

The penalty was a poor decision but justice was done when Jackson did his best to put the ball into orbit.

I thought The Doog was unlucky when the home keeper came out and made a great save, Southon went close with a good header, and O'Connor was only inches wide with a shot. All in all, a good performannce, and up front they are looking better. They were much more controlled at the back as well. For me the player of the match was Danny Hill, with Ryan Johnson, Jamie, the Doog and Grant Cooper not far behind.

I notice the announcer was carrying on about racist chants at the interval - all I heard was "Who let the Doog out" - hardly racist.

It was a fitting tribute to the Urchins that the Weynouth Player of the Match went to their keeper Ramos, and without him, Weymouth would not have won.

The team are beginning to look good.

Great ground at Weymouth, nice facilities, excellent car park (unless you get stuck in it for an hour afterwards) - did anyone see the speedway to the rear - it makes The Arena look like Wembley by comparison.

Can anyone confirm the second Weymouth goal please ?

I had it down as their number eleven (Darren Wheeler), and the tannoy announcement also said it was Wheeler - the HFC stats give it as an own goal.

And I also have three bookings down for Hornchurch - Glynn and Tomlinson, both on 73 mins (following the protests when the referee did not give a penalty when Glynn went down - the first yellow was waved at Tomlinson, followed by another immediately after, at Glynn - these were more or less in the centre of the field, several seconds after the referee had waved play on), and Cooper on 78 (this was in the left hand corner of the pitch, at the end where Weymouth were attacking).
