Carlisle game from a Carlisle fan

Thought I'd post a couple of thoughts on the game - but haven't been able to get to a computer for a couple of days.

 

Personally I thought it was a bit of a let down myself, I was expecting a bit of a rip roarer but it never really materialised. I think Lumsdon ran the show in our midfield and im not going to patronise you i just thought we were more skilful on the day.

 

Lummy's first was a beut, Holmes's header was nice and then the fun started. The first sending off, was, I felt deserved. And with that went any chnce of you getting something out of the game. Your keeper was also double lucky to stay on after launching the ball towards the linesman.

 

However, the penalty I felt was very very dubious. Unfortunately once the ref had given it he was the kind of guy who was always gonna send him off. As Carlisle fans we had plenty of those kinds of decisions go against us last year when we were fighting tooth and nail to stay up and we know how costly it can be. Personally I don't think you'll go down anyways.

 

The second hgalf was a non event - alot of Carlisle fans were commenting on how Boylan looked a nice player so it was a shame to see him go off. We never got out of 1st gear in the second half and when the chances arrived I think we just looked like some of the players were trying to be a little too clever. In a closely fought match I couldnt see Adam Murray trying to chip the keeper and hiiting the bar - I think he'd have just composed himself and knocked it in.

 

 

All that said, I know a few fans had a belter of a weekend ,

shame we had to have the double sending off, one undoubtedly the right decision, one undoubtedly the wrong.

 

Considering the amount of support you brought I thought you were strangely quiet.

 

Boylan it a great player, has been the main reason we're this high up, personally I feel without him we'd still be back where we were. Boylan has scored some wondergoals this season, and has the past few seasons. Watch his last goal against Gravesend on conferencefootball.tv.

 

Hopefully we'll be able to play you again next year, unless you go up. We're all praying we're here to stay!

cheers mate, pretty fair assessment of the game, ... hope the journey wasnt too much of a drag going back, ... is a bloody long way, but obviously a lot easier with 3 points in the bag.

Hope you enjoyed your brief stay on the Island and wish you well on the run in, with hopefully promotion at the end of it, 2 reasons for that, Carlisle should be in the League 2 and secondly for personal reasons, you're further away than anyone else and dont mind not having that fixture again next year although I cheated a bit this season as I got a flight to Newcastle and then a train and made weekend of it.
