ATTENDANCES

Reading the notes by Eddie in programme against Tonbridge must agree with him on how dissapointing it is that we are struggling to get crowds of just over 300 at present, considering how successful the team have been this season. Where are all those who came to see the Walsall and Yeading games, do realise when it comes to away games we often take more than other clubs do when visiting us.

But a big chunk of our fan base over the years does seem to be fading away just shows how important it is to get back into Slough.

And as for Slough Council brining out a stategy for sport in Slough well where a better place to start than getting the Britwell scheme from last summer back up and running with the football club at the forefront.

Couldn't agree more re: slough council strategy... however as far as eddie's programme notes go....there was very little we faithful could do about that game. We were all there and thse who weren't were absent due to work or other weekday commitments...being a tuesday was always going to make the numbers dwindle....

More to the point, new fans are difficult to get hold of due to a) us not playing in slough and b)lack of coverage prior to the game. While the local papers like the Express and the Observer provide regular coverage, I'd have thought there would have been more independent advertising through posters in shop windows / radio shout outs etc

Perhaps the solution then is not to criticise the fans who regularly attend home and away games, but to make a serious effort to attract the new ones by advertising the games in Slough

Will stop griping now.... <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Charlie I was'nt critising the present hardcore cause I am one of them ,but the supporters of the past who have gradually faded away it's very dissapointing and i't shows the quicker we get back into Slough the better.

As for publicity i't was me who posted last sunday on getting local radio stations imformed of the game and posters being put up.

With regard to Eddies notes in the Tonbridge programme, yes the crowd did seem rather small for a semi final. I can't comment on as to why it was quiet as I wasn't there. Was laid up with the lurgy and listening to the crowd behind the goal on Saturday, loads seemed to be in poor voice, croaky, coughing and husky. Hopefully we'll all be feeling better and louder today and hopefully in larger numbers. Come on you Rebels

sounds like a fan like myself - coming back to support the rebels after a few years without a game - is rare! but this time im hanging around, got slightly more control over going to games than i did back when i used to go to the park!

have managed to convince a couple of mates that slough footy is worth watching, unfortunately they work so cant get to many games, but theyre still interested in coming to games and how the rebels do

The only way to really improve the crowds is to win the leagues and get higher up the ladder, as its been mentioned in the past( by others).stevanage-wycombe-yeovil-woking etc etc have all substantially increased their crowds with promotions to a higher level.Slough use to have better crowds than all those teams. That's where the Thornes came unstuck, they should have just invested that little bit longer and got us into the old 4th division, then you would have seen crowds coming back.Still all thats in the past now sadly.

Steve - wasn't aware of your efforts at promotion and i realise you were'nt havung a go at the faithful...just thought eddie was a bit...

Kay I think you're entirely right re: croaky voices

Optomistic: thank you for offering a valid, sensible opinion...for once....i agree with you completely

Well done Steve!! Problem with the valid point made above is that we'd be in the same position, probably worse, this coming summer had that happened. Byron would now be in control of the club and I can't see him taking any interest in us either now or in the future regardless of what division we'd be in. Back to square one on that one as well as we'd probably be kicked out this summer and having to start again from the bottom rung, so perhaps we are better off the way we are?

There were probably 100-120 Windsor fans in the ground today. A lot behind the away dugout appeared to be Slough fans, or if not, very generous Windsor fans applauding the Slough players on and off the pitch.

That said, there were probably a fair few neutrals in there as well, but with more performances like that, we should be able to retain a few of them.
