Ticket prices

Hello All

Disgruntled Orient fan here !

Just wondering what your ticket prices are, I've had a lurk around the official site, but couldnt find the info (probably me being a bit thick !). Not that I expect that I will ever stop punishing myself and my boy by going to the O's, but, after todays effort I unwisely worked out roughly what I spend every season with the travel, shirts, lager, etc etc .... 'frightening' isnt the word !!

I have to be honest i have never really followed your progress before, but you are becoming a bit of a talking point amongst some of us around what Barry Hearn calls The Matchroom Stadium, what others call, The Stadium of Darkness. If there are no clashing matches i might be tempted to pop down, be a 'Johnny Come Lately' and revel in a bit of glory hunting !!

Thanks for the information Dan.

Oh Iron, mate, definately will 'keep the faith' with the O's. You don't need me to remind you that once a club is in your blood its there for life ! It just kinda grinds you down after a decade of Hearn !!

Definately up for popping up the road to watch Billericay (sorry Braintree !!) sometime. It will be nice to watch a winning team for once ! Is there a bar there, if so, is it only for the Supporters Club ?

I had the dubious pleasure of doing this in reverse and wandering over to the Orient to avoid shopping, or what ever she who must be obeyed had planned for Good Friday. An interesting experience, but one that maybe I will coose to avoid for a while.

We joined a queue for the ticket office at about ten past two. Only about 25 in front of us, so I was hopeful of fairly quick service. Wrong. It took 20 minutes for the queue to cross the road. The group in front of us walked away to find a cash office as the signs clearly stated credit cards and collections only. We held out and paid cash! I asked for seats in the centre of the main stand and was told there was nothing doing, so we settled for the South Community Stand, row E seat 30 etc. £16 seemed good value. Couldn't get a programme though. Guy in the queue said that they do not sell in the street anymore, because they can't get insurance for the cash.

Having entered the ground I asked a steward for directions on where to could get a cup of tea. Not only was there no facilities, but the steward indicated that there had been complaints all season. He said that earlier in the season he would have walked us around the side of the pitch to the main stand to get something, but the club has put a stop to that. I asked about a programme. He shrugged his shoulders, apologised and said that he had no idea where I could get one.

Wandered into the bar under the stand. That was quite civilised. I could even drink my lager from a real glass. Spoke to a couple of fans to try and find out what to expect from the team. Not been following their results closely this season, but knew that a few months ago they were in with a shout of the play-offs with Southend. The two impressions gained from other fans were:

a) Orient were trying to play too much good football, when this division called out on occasions for kick, bollock and bite.

B) seven wins from the last eight games could still see the Os in a play-off position.

Have to admit that our seats offered a very good view of the pitch, with plenty of leg room. Full marks for that. Also had good view of seats in the main stand centre that remained unoccupied throughout the whole of the game.

Now the game. Cheltenham Town were the more capable side, though were content to allow Orient the most of the possession. On the other hand, Orient were truly dreadful. Two down at half time could easily have been more. At half time the programme seller appeared walking round the pitch. Not much use when you are five row, a stair case and a moat away! I called out to get his attention. He seemed pleased with this new celebrity status, cos he waved and kept on walking. Plank.

Second half. Orient pulled one back which onlt encouraged Cheltenham to step things up and get a third. By this point I was becoming convinced that Orient must of been busy in the market on transfer deadline day. I only say that as there was little evidence that some of the players had ever met, let alone played together before. A late second consellation goal made the last ten minutes more exciting, but it was hardly Charge of the Light Brigade. Given that there was at last a chance of a point, I would have expected a little more urgency.

Final impression was you must be relieved to have 50 points in the bag at this stage of the season. Ten less and you could have been fighting relegation.

One last question. What is that new stand all about? The two stories above the level of the back row of seats mean there is no way the roof will protect from the rain if the wind is blowing any way other than from directly behind.

That post made interesting reading Horse. I don't think, to be honest, that many of us punters at the O's will be terribly suprised by your experience. A shame and I am sorry to hear it.

Its strange times in E10. Off the field there's 'odd' goings on afoot regarding the new stand(s). No major worries about wind and rain on the West stand as 'Onest 'Earn has, and wait for this one !!, sold each corner of the ground for redevelopment as blocks of flats !! I don't think anyone was particularily enthusiastic about that (!) but I guess, if it helped pay for the building of the two new stands we could grin and bear it ...... oh, err, hang on .... Last year the West and North stands were both demolished. The West stand you see being built, 'appears' to have gone so incredibly way over budget that 'Earn cannot afford to complete it as per the plans nor afford to build the North stand now.... That and it seems we may be in his pocket for a cool £6 mill. Trouble is, if things are not as sordid as they seem, its 'Earns own bloody fault as he is staying remarkably quiet in his defence (a feat not normally attributable to him !).

On the field, personally speaking, I think Ling just needs a few weeks off during the summer, review his mistakes this season, get some man management and tactics courses under his belt and I'm 'happy' to see how things go with him next season. At the beginning of this season we played some of the best footy that I have seen at Brisbane Road but at the moment, it is, as you say, just so ******* dire it beggars belief. Great point about our being relieved at having those 10 extra points in the bag. we aint safe yet !

And all this from someone who up till recently was a Happy Clappy and a a bit of a defender of Hearn.

Going back to my original post, basically, I have no doubt I will be back at the O's next season, but it will be a pleasant change to see 11 players actually exhibiting some passion on the pitch. Here's to the Billericay Experience being a good un. The Yeading game sounds a bit mouth watering.

Excuse me for saying so, but you sound like a classic fair weather supporter to me. Most people attending non-league matches primarily support a league club. Go to Billericay matches by all means but in my opinion that in itself is not a good reason to giving up on watching the O's.

Eh ?

Don't think you could have mis-read my posts more if you tried Ozbrit !! Where on Earth did I say I giving up going to the O's ?!!

A fair weather O ? ... ouch. Matey, i've been going since way before I lost me hair, maybe, like a marathon, I'm hitting 'the wall' a bit, but as I have said in a previous post, I have no doubt I'll be back there next year (and a miilion years more) for more Valium inducing mediocrity.

Dont forget that in Pepsi Cola Division 3 (I catagorically refuse to recognise that other poxy cola company for pissing about with the league names. Pathetic of me, but hey), but we have to tavel considerably further for away games than you guys. Just because i may support a 'bigger' team, doesnt mean I have a bigger wage packet and I don't see how watching another local team when the O's are playing away makes me fair weather.

Mind you, the way things are going under Hearn, it probably won't be too long before we're both in the same league anyway !! If youre interested, have a deco at the O's official site's message board and that will give you more insight into why alot of O's currently have the rampant hump.

Sorry, I got the impression you were unhappy with the O's performances, were fed up with seeing mediocre performances so were jumping ship to see someone winning. Going to a local match when your favourites are away or having a day off is what many football fans do. Some so-called fans of the game will go to great levels of personal discomfort and expense to watch the Gunners or hammers and would consider it below them to be seen at local football. Real football fans like yourself (as opposed to slaves of a club) will support the game at all levels.

Slug, I wouldn't worry about Ozbrit, he assumes so much and he is 12,000 miles away, thinks he knows it all and doesn't...

Keep the faith, we have quite a few LO supporters pitch up on the odd occasion and they are made very welcome...Some make us a regular fixture of their season amd still keep their interest in the O's...

Hope to see you soon...

Slug..Oz is no different to you, he supports Boretree, but spend more time on here than his own Boretree forum. IW is the same.

Unlike Millwall, everyone likes us!

See you soon Slug.

I mostly post messages at the Iron chatter forum, that forum was running for years b4 the Braintree one arrived here on non-league UK. But I do look this forum up a fair bit. I find it rather amusing and entertaining,I've not seen so much bull in years - no kidding. This is the place to come to see where forecasts become mathematics, notions become facts, contrary views are met with insults.

Enjoy todays matches, but not the results.

Cheers

No worries Ozbrit.

I am unhappy with the O's performances, I am fed up with seeing mediocre performances, but nope, not jumping ship !!

Think I may be replacing some of the aways with some trips to Billericay to be a fairweather BTFC supporter . No pretensions of being anything otherwise and would be happy to add to their coffers.

Wickfordnj..... Norm ?!!! (What do you think of the Muttley avatar thing. An uncanny likeness of me I feel )

Slug, yours and Johnny The Horse's post once again re-affirm why so many people, like myself, prefer to watch non-league "in the flesh" and catch the rip-off pro-game solely on TV (if at all). Let us know what you think of your visit to New Lodge, especially if you made it to the fantastic occasion that was our 3-1 win over City today - oh, and Ozbrit, I may not be "most people" true enough, but I would like to state on record that for around 30 years now I have been Ricay 100% and don't give a monkeys about any League team.
