Steady, slow progress??

This season :-

P33 W11 D9 L13 F52 A52 Pts 42

So we're marginally better off points wise than in both of the last 2 seasons.

On the goalscoring front, its quite amazing that we've scored the same number of goals as 2 seasons ago at this stage, and 1 more than last season - this despite our top league scorer having just 7 goals.

Its good to see that, despite continued defensive concerns, we have reduced the goals conceded figure over the last 2 seasons. We still concede too many, but at least its going in the right direction.

Attendance wise a total of 25800 watched our home games in 2002/3, 24746 in 2003/4 and 24709 to date this season - so we need 1092 or more people in total, to attend our last 3 home games to give us our best attendance total since we returned to the Conference.Again, this will obviously happen, so we are heading the right way, albeit slowly.

Perhaps we could try Hampton's ruse for the last couple of home games, of allowing half price admission to individuals with season tickets for other clubs. It may not boost the gate by much, but even if it attracts an extra 20/30 people, its a few extra pounds in the clubs coffers - money it probably wouldnt have, if it were charging full price.

Slow stead progress has always, quite rightly, Brians overall ethos and philosophy.

How often have we seen the 'pay big bucks for a quick fix/promotion' fail after a couple of seasons. There are too many clubs to quote who have tried this method and have failed diasterously.

Just this season you could look at Hornchurch and Chester.

I say Brian is doing a magnificent job.
