Exiled Rebels i need you're thoughts

Recommended Posts

Right without sounding like the pub bore, and going on and ....

Exiled supporters have sponsored the home game against Hampton on April 2nd. I'm writing a piece on why people still travel miles to watch the rebels. Despite pleas i've only had stuff from Horsham and Ashby Rebels -

i need a few paragraphs about why you travel, how long since you moved, why don't you support you're local club etc. I need this asap

So come on Cambridge Foghorn, Merton Rebel, Cheltenham, Northern, Yeovil etc. send me some bloody stuff...

ps think the match ball is still available for sponsor that game

pps saw that the wealdstone programme, won equal 3rd best non league programme in Britain last season. Obviously apart from the crap i write, i reckon the Slough one is much better. So how do we go about getting it nominated?

BR, from past experience, John Tebbit has not put it forward as he thought it lacked the overall quality to do well, although he is now only a main contributor. I would hope that from Glen's continued fine work through these past few years and the introduction of more varied articles such as the pieces you write and the fans forum pieces, we can move it forward and continually improve it.

I know there are certain minimum criteria which are required to enter it as well, but not sure if we hit those or not (think it had to be over 40 or 44 pages, and I don't think we meet that at the moment)

for your information needed

I have suppoted the rebels for over 35 years, both in watching games to painted the ground.

I moved to winchester a year ago but still come to watch almost every home saturday game and a couple away games. Once you support the rebels you never lose the love of the team, all the hard work the players and suppoters put through every game. there is no other football team in the uk is there?

Where ever i go be it either work or social I talk about the rebels and soon enough people who have never heard of slough let alone the football club look for the results to talk about it on mondays.

I find men especially frendly in this respect, the fact I travel that far to watch football, a female on her own is unbeliveable, but they, like every one else gets into slough.

No matter where i live I will always follow slough town FC if I can't get to the game then I always ring to get the result from someone, even when on holidays.

Yes the stapling on one programme was not of the standard that would be expected of a top quality matchday programme. I have since sacked the Executive Director of Stapling, so this incident shall never happen again. Thank you for your patience, Glen Riley.

Noticed more this year than ever how many supporters who have moved to pastures new still come back to watch the 'REBELS'.

WHERE I stand there are 2 guys who live in Reading and Swindon for 30yrs but come to all games possible just shows how respected the team and club are thought of in non league circles and by all these people, as stated in previous posts ways must be found to sercure the future of the club and for us all to keep following the best team around for years to come.

'UP THE REBELS'

Sadly being in Liverpool where I run a music venue it's hard to get down for home games (if only we were still in the Conference with all those games around Manchester!) However the web site is brilliant and being able to see the goals the day after is fantastic - you deserve some kind of medal! Fingers cross I will be there for the Windsor game (my first at Slug Meadow!) on Monday so it would be great to meet some of you.
