Just done some sums and come up with the following:

2004/5 1.379

2003/4 1.956

2002/3 1.739

2001/2 1.476

2000/1 0.928 - Relegated!

1999/0 1.428

1998/9 1.261

 

I hate to agree with optimistic, but looked at like this the season is not going well.

 

To be anywere near playoffs we need to be gaining an average of 1.8 points per game.

Ah, but last seasons high required an average of 2.38 points for the last 13 games to reach that level. Now if we we to do the same thing this time the average points per game would be 1.69 and therefore much more respectable. Pointless statistics!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lies, damn lies and statistics!!

 

I personally belive that this league is generally more even than last years and hence the spread of points at the end of the season will be closer.

 

The issue still comes back to how many of our games in hand we convert into points.

Also, this is the first season following a "promotion" and therefore it is not really a fair comparison because we are playing at a higher standard. Those of us who have regularly followed the Rebels over the last few years would surely agree that this is the most competitive league (with the highest standard of football) we have been involved with since 97/98.

 

In much the same way it is unfair to compare players from this present season to say 1954/5.

Never mind stats, the next 3 games are crucial. We must at least draw with Heybridge to win the tie. Then two winnable league games at the Stagg. That will leave us a cup final to look forward to and a comfortable mid-table position still with 5/6 games in hand to launch from. By 5 pm Easter Monday we should have a clear idea whether the end of the season is to be a joy or a drudge.

personally i think a good season is a top half finish, with a bryco cup final appearance, on top of the fa trophy and fa cup runs that weve had.
