Desborough - Locke - Dear - Johnson - Southon - Bowes - Williams - Hill - Keith Martin - Glynn - Stowe. Subs - Burgess, Douglas for Dear 64, Eric Kwakye for Stowe 72, Maynard, O'Connor for Martin 72

Bookings - Hill 45, Southon 77, also Danny Shipp 56.

Weather sunny, 18 degrees dropping to 12 degrees.

Crowd about 300, mainly from Hornchurch.

A vastly improved performance, with Urchins making all the initial running, Martin comving well with Stowe to set up Bowes who went close.

Locke was often in the action, as was Bowes and Stowe, but no one could finish. Johnson was very convincing at the back and Thurrock rarely looked dangerous, though Kandol managed to hook a shot over. Bert Brayley was largely anonymous, and Shipp appeared subdued. Thurrock took the lead two minutes from the interval, with some help from the linesman who seemed to have made a mistake in flagging in Thurrock's favour. From the resulting centre, Jimmy MacFarlane got there first for the only goal.

Second half was virtually all Urchins, with Sean Dear looking very impressive, and improving from match to match. Thurrock struggled, though the booking for Shipp looked very harsh. Loud calls for a penalty were over-ruled when Woodman punched clear, hitting Chris Stowe in the head in the process, and The Doog, let out in place of Dear, just failed to get a touch to the ball as Woodman dashed out to smother and fumble.

Eric Kwakye - from Hampton and Richmond - came on for Stowe, and O'Connor came on for Keith Martin (previously with Redbridge).

Everyone came up, and The Doog again went close. A free kick to Thurrock gave Shipp a chance for his usual set piece, but Poole decided to try a shot instead and the ball went well wide.

Thurrock resorted to massive time wasting tactics and it was a little annoying that only two minutes were added on. Player of the match for me was Ryan Johnson, with Locke and Dear both not too far behind.

Yep I heard. You were pretty poor in the first half from what I heard.
