Harry J Allstars
Okay so Canvey never bought the 5,000 that they predicted nor did I see many caravans, but most of them did sign the petition. Talking to them before the game I didn't get exactly what I expected, I thought (because of the rumours I had heard) that they were all going to be carrying weapons, have five kids on each arm act like inbreads saying Gillingham want to move to Gravesend, wheres Gravesend? But they simply weren't like that, they all spoke......well like us. They had their Chavs as do we, they had their lairy supporters as do we one thing though that they did not have was the stigma that has been attached to them. In the first half many of you may have seen a load of Gravesend Chavs running towards the Canvey Chavs. Both sets of Chavs were giving it large, Chavs were shouting at other Chavs until what you had was a massive Chav shouting fest. Note there were Chavs on both sides and apart from one bloke in a yellow shirt I saw no Canvey fan being threatening or acting like a Chav. However the same could not be said for our own supporters. Running towards the Canvey fans because there looks like there could be trouble is not how you conduct yourself at a game of football. I also thought the stewards did a wonderful job today, and there only fault was not kicking out some of the imbreds. The imbreds that were in the home end. Also to the guys that sing why did you suddenly decide to move down to the Swanscombe end in the second half? Okay it was to see the action, and okay it was also to have more of a laugh with the away fans but would you have done the same had we been losing? Methinks not. Anyway if you wanted the banter to be more lively why not do this at all games? I think people miscontrue Canvey as our rivals, they also misconstrue Canvey has an Island of villiany and scum, is it? Not any more than Gravesend, Northfleet, Swanscombe, Greenhithe..........
Unrecognized Genius
To Harry & all Canvey fans. Those twats weren't genuine Fleet fans. I apologise like everyone else in the ground for their f*ckwit behaviour & wish the Bill had been called soon enough to throw them out. I watched them for 15 minutes or so 1st half & you could pick them out easily: rat-faced inbred skulls turned permanently to their left, not watching any of the game. Wearing white tee shirts with horizontal stripes (Nicholson?) Just as well Canvey only brought their real supporters & not the hangers on that came when we got promoted. Well done lads for a well deserved victory - at least 2 goals better than the opposition, I felt & f*ck off to the mindless tw*ts who tried to ruin our reputation. A Non E Mouse
That's the first time I have attended a non league football match and been videoed by the police after leaving a ground - crazy. Why did the police film the Canvey fans at the end of the game rather than film everyone, including the G&N "supporters" whilst still at the Swanscombe end? Surely this would aid security in the future.

I agree, I saw one of your fans acting possibly in a threatening manor but as I have said running from one end of the ground to the other to goad the Canvey fans was a lot worse. Hempstead Gaz
From where I stood, I think Chris Baker and his stewards performed superbly today. I have not been a big fan of the stewarding recently, as you well know, but on this occaision credit where credit is due. Well done.

Robbo
Don't know about everyone else who moved in the 2nd half to behind the goal, but the main reason I wanted to move was because I didn't want to stand in that ******* side stand any longer. We made lots of noise this afternoon, good stuff. On the Canvey fans, not sure what the hell was going on in 1st half when one tried getting past the segregation netting but it seemed like just a minority causing trouble. You're probably right Harry that most Canvey folks aren't all pikeys, but if we think like that then what do we sing about?
Harry J Allstars
I also moved behind the goal in the second half, but as David will back me up, I do this at a lot of games.

The steward said something to one of the Canvey players about chucking something at the Gravesend fans too. FLEET4LIFE
Guest
i think that the stewards was crap!!! how they delt with the crowd was poor even when they had just been on a stewarding course not even a week ago as for the blue fish net was they waiting for a flood the get some fish or something? the game was poor in the second half but i think lees freekick was great well done. Bernard
I haven't hated seeing chavs down the game as much as I did today. They were shouting obsenities, questioning the away fans' parentage etc. Then bursting out laughing as though they had said something incredibly witty. It was totally pathetic and I ended up moving away to avoid the sorry situation. As my brother said, ten pounds is a lot to pay not to watch a game of football. It was even worse that it was our 'fans' who started the nonsense, since they give our club a bad name. The one Canvey fan who retaliated was, I believe, rightfully thrown out of the ground, however more action could have been taken to prevent a potential escalation of violence caused by some Gravesendian rat-boys. Having said that, once things calmed down (after Police back-up arrived), I thoroughly enjoyed today's game. We didn't play stupendously, never looked like getting three goals and sometimes had trouble containing Boylan but overall we did excellently to win the game in the manner we did. With two wins next week our safety should be totally secured, so let's keep fingers crossed we have no more ridiculous bad luck and can make a late surge up the table! Stu M
There did seem to be a lot more little rats than usual around today. At half-time they all came down the side terrace and I recall commenting that I hadn't seen so much Elizabeth Duke faux gold before at a game. I think most of us spent more time watching the goings-on behind the goal for 10 minutes in the first half than we did the game. There was definitely a surge of idiots who ran to the 'action' once they sensed trouble. Had the police been there in the first place (do the club have to pay them?) it probably wouldn't have occurred and had the Northfleet End been open, there would have been no opposing fans together on that one terrace. So hopefully it won't happen again, and those chavs can f*** right off. They're not welcome here... or anywhere.

So therefore we don't HAVE to have police at EVERY game. So you are 'almost' correct.
Stu M
Back to the banter side of things... that Burton fella up front for Canvey was a little hot under the collar after getting into a tangle with Bunce, then reacting to the fans, and then hoofing the ball away at the final whistle and running off without shaking any hands...! I'll remember him for next season if I'm bored...
A Non E Mouse
Burtons on loan from Scarborough until the end of the season. I think his reaction, and that of some of our other players, was possibly down to the poor officials. You may obviously see it differently, but I believe many of the Gulls fans found him and one particular linesman very inept. I felt your first goal should have been stopped for a possible foul. Think it was Essendoah who looked like he puled at the back of our players shirt before getting the ball and squaring it across - how did you perceive the goal and the officials? FYI - Jeff King felt we lost fair and square and it was mainly down to defensive mistakes - certainly the first and the third. Didn't look like the ref had much option regarding the penalty. YELLOW
A couple of years ago I absolutely hated Gravesend with a vengeance. After coming on this forum I feel differently. 95% of Gravesend supporters are decent people but unfortunately you always get a minority. I have to admit when we equalised I gave a few w.nker signs to the chavs and generally over celebrated. What I found rather crass was I heard chants regarding the Canvey floods. This is not banter. Last time somebody made a comment about this was an old gentleman at Sutton who thought it would be funny to make a comment about the 53 floods. He nearly got his head ripped off!!! I recognised straight away that these were a bunch of chavs that were only there to cause trouble but unfortunately my perception of Gravesend has taken rather a battering. Absolutely correct , Yellow. At the end of the day, we are only rivals from our promotion year. We both earned a lot of respect for each other then, and it still continues. As fans, we are probabaly all very similar, lets face it, we are only separated by a river and about 15 miles, unlike the thick northern bas*ards from "up north". Good luck 'til then end of ther season
