Town 4 Stansted 1

Hall 11 Green 32, Negus 21, Nyman 63.

A gorgeous sunny day for Towners and all was right with the world.

The game started with Dean Nyman shot wide. Russell Penn came running in and just missed with a shot. In the 11th minute a corner came in and was deflected out to the edge of the box where Rudi Hall was waiting to hit one with venom on target and through a crowd of players. Steve Wright got a hand to it only to deflect it into the top corner of his own goal 1 – 0 town fans erupted. Another Dean Nyman shot saved for a corner. On 21 minutes Matty Negus from the touch line some 20yards out beat the keeper and the ball crossed the line BEFORE Dean Nyman got a boot to it.

On the 24th Minute Paul Campbell made a lovely cross for Dean Green to nail home but unfortunately the lino put his flag up. Dean Green then attempted an overhead Scissor kick, just missing to connect.

On the 28th minute Przezdziecki had a one on one with Chopper and although Chopper saved the first shot the rebound fell well and Stansted dispatched it in the bottom corner 2 – 1 Game on.

In the 33rd Dean Green 30 yards out nailed an along the ground shot past the luckless Steve Wright 3 – 1

Big Graeme Hall came running in to head just wide. Steve Baldwin was having some sublime skilful football down the wing and then in front of goal with a 1 on 1 with the keeper went for the Johny Wilkinson over the bar. Shame!

Dean Nyman went down after going for a 50/50 ball and the crack of his bones echoed around the ground. Matty Negus struck the ball from the side line 40 yards out as the refs whistle blew for an infringement and it just curled under the bar for a fantastic goal if it had counted. HT 3 – 1 and town were coasting.

2nd half Stansted brought on a reserve and normal service was resumed. Dean Nyman shot just against the post and Russell Penn shot just wide from the corner. Paul Campbell made a wonderful run was clean through and then ran out of legs. In the 63rd minute Dean Nyman made a solo run along the box and then beat the keeper. 4 – 1. Deano Deano!!

David Allen and Tony Mercer had a tumble and Tony slapped (playfully) Dave Allen on the head for a few seconds later David to do the same in return on the ol slap’ed. The fans roared Tony Mercer is still a crowd pleaser despite the town taunts of “where’s ya zimmer.” frame. Riley on for Penn, Snowden on for Graeme Hall.

Dean Green displaying lovely skill beat 3 before being plonked on the deck for a free kick.

Bradley Brotherton came on for Dean Nyman. Brad back after a long lay off this season. A Rudi Hall freekick was saved from dipping under the bar by a lovely dive from Wright.

Town fans applauded the officials for excellent officiating, and the Stansted team for coming to play quality football. Well done both.

If other players made as few mistakes as Chopper we would be in the Conference South by now.
