Abbey on hold for the moment?

"Abbey might have to wait a little longer to acquire Southern League status after they were handed a deadline of April 1 to get their Capershotts ground up to scratch.

 

Abbey .....met representatives of the Football Association, Essex Senior League and Southern League on Monday morning and received some promising feedback.

 

The club have been told to install extra toilets, move their turnstiles and ensure their playing surface is enclosed to meet Grade E status, which will entail applying for planning permission.

 

But they have been promised grants by the FA to help them make improvements."

not good news for them for this season, but with the grants will they be ok for next?

Why not? At least like town they have ambition

Do the FA 'promise' grants. Didn't Brimsdown's & Town's come from the Football Foundation? And then it was through a competitive bid process. There was never a guarantee that money would be given.

As we found getting grants is a learning process and for what it is worth Abbey you have to wait for them and that might mean that it is April 2007 unless you really focus and get the application in soon!
