Wealdstone match thread

Just got back, was a very scrappy match, with the second have coming to nothing really.

1-0 down after 14mins with Matt Murphy scoring the equiliser not long after. Seedel hit the bar few minutes later. Stones striker sent off after incident with Hodgey

Nothing much happened 2nd half, but Slough had slightly more of the possession but didnt really have any clear cut chances.

Another Stones player could have gone after further handbags, again involving Hodgey I think, when he pushed Hodges away about ten minutes after their player was sent off.

A bit lacklustre from us, didn't dominate as much as we should have, and again, didn't really create enough particularly as we were playing against ten. They seemed to want it more than us, certainly it appeared that way for spells of the second half. That said, they didn't look the best of sides, especially at the back - a number of unforced errors from their backline mainly in the first half, but we failed to make it count in the end.

Two points dropped given the cirumstances.

It was a cynical foul from Hodgey which deserved the booking, but not sure how they saw from the far side of the pitch if Hodgey had spat on him. Can't say for certain what did or didn't happen as we weren't close enough, but I don't think Hodgey would do that.

He rightfully went, provoked or not, and could have been followed by another of their players not too long after.

Their player got up after the foul and the players went head to head. Then the punch was thrown, clear as day, can't have any doubts it was a red. What was said or done between the foul and punch, not sure too many people will know.

I agree...I think our boys will be very disappointed tonight...granted, a draw is better than a loss, but when we're playing a side of 10 men for 70 mins plus you'd of thought we'd take the opportunity and at least take the lead... still there are a few positives from tonight

a)parkin looked very comfortable

b)mason and cann looked promising again

c)Metcalfe put some quality passes in tonight

Forgot to say....after attending her first game at 7 days old, my babe (Scarlett) attended her 100th Rebels game tonight! Coincidentally, she could have gone to her first game at 3 days old on the Tuesday night but we figured it'd be too cold for her.... at home to Wealdstone!

Congrats to Scarlett - she is going to become a legendary Slough fan.

Disappointed with the result tonight. Feels very much like a defeat. Before kick off would have taken a draw but when playing against ten men we should have taken all three points.

I also feel the Friday night kick off has cost us. Two of our regulars did not make it in time and at least another two were delayed and therefore not best prepared. There were fewer than normal travelling fans and personally I am of the opinion that football should be played on Saturdays and genuine mid-week games only.

It was the most blatant sending off ever. Regardless of what Hodgey may or may not have done (and knowing Hodgey he would not have spat) you cannot get away with punching someone in the face.

We seemed to lack imagination and positivity in the final third and did not really test the keeper.

Some good spells of play and the move when Seedy hit the bar was excellent but the second half was a non-event and for a twenty minute spell the Stones looked the most likely scorers.

Not a disaster but a disappointment.

Let's get a place in t'cup final secured on Tuesday. Come on Rebels.
