also played in the same side as covey, he certainly knew where the goal was, shame he never really got fit.

danny clarke is very tough to play against, benstock at romford is a class act and also lee fulling or fuller at romford very good.

portway is very clever, especially at winning free kicks and being at the right place at the right time, o'rielly and pike both very good!


Dean Green was awesome today and to that extent I agree with Pinnacle (scarey). Billy Cove had the same talent as Dean Green he didn't have to look at the goal to know where it was and how to put the ball in the net.

Rudi Hall has been fantastic also and being the LD World Champion Golden Boot holder is great for town. If he could mimic the not looking skill of Cove and Green he'd be better than them too!

But if Matty Negus plays again like he did today he is still my favorite. He just gets better and better. Matty does sneak a look but is still class in my book.

Nobody has yet mentioned Chris Stevens? The reports in the Mercury about Aransibia as Abbey's secret weapon look interesting too!

Biased as we all can be, steve king is not a striker, and the definitive description of a real "striker" has eluded us in recent years.

Strikers can be bought.

 

Steve Portway is a legend, half blind, being paid but his disability for a better word ( eyesight for the ignorant) has in my eyes seen a true goalscorer.

 

Match that? Money or not the ESL has been graced with his presence. Make you feel humble???

 

Nice fella, great goalscorer.

 

Apparentley when blessed with full eyesight backed himself to score the first goal for Gravesend in an FA CUP match against league opposition many years ago. ........................................................................................AND WON.
