Saying that... who is he letting go to make way for these new players?... More expenditure, no increase in revenue..!

We've had a bit of extra prize money and gate money from the Trophy, I imagine, and Fordy let quite a few players go without any coming in, so I'm guessing it's still within whatever budget we had.

The Anselin (that it?) fella looks promising, been at some high profile clubs. I agree we need some centre backs brought in though, preferably with pace.

Where abouts in midfield do Anselin and Deane play? Are they both centre midders or wingers or what?

We are, but look who scored them today. Drury, Skinner and Bunce aren't strikers, in case you hadn't noticed. If a game is tight and there is little attacking done, sometimes you need a man who will slot his one chance away, someone who can win games just like that. This is why I feel we need a new striker, not more midfielders.

Besides, Nick Burton once moved from us to Farnborough. Using Mr Stevenson's logic he'd have become a worse player, but he's moved on to potentially better things with Crawley.

Better than Farnborough maybe but Crawley have had their moment in the sun. They will finish mid table this season and find it a lot harder next season.

They looked pretty good to me as strikers Bernard. Why bother to have the luxury of a so called striker (Craig McAlister) when we have guys like ours who are prepared to latch on to the opportunistic chances.

Bunce, right place, right time, GOAL! archetypal striker position. He took this position at every corner taken.

You tell me what your interpretation is that makes a striker. Most would like to think that they are strikers, and hang around waiting for a remote opportunity that the ball will drop at their feet.

Lee Boylan (Canvey) as a striker had only one chance, and that was from a set piece.

Lee Boylan had one chance did he? Were your eyes closed when he missed the one-on-one sitter in the second half?

Anyway, my idea of a striker is someone who plays up front. In certain games it simply isn't possible for defensive players to get in scoring positions, so we rely on our forwards to put the ball in the net. I see no evidence to suggest that our current strikers can do this consistently. That is my point.

I'm with Bernard on this one.

I still maintain that Roy is now sitting in a 2 year contract 'comfort zone' & with it, like everywhere else, his goalscoring abilities have dried up.

I'm sure that in the summer, Daish will use his contacts to bring in some players with league club experience.

We could do a lot worse than to sign an older player on his way out of the football league (in a similar way as Mark Stein when he played at Dagenham?) with a good career record of goalscoring.
