I have to agree, although we weren't playing total crap. We were outclassed in the middle and outpaced at the back!

 

Essandoh's second goal was absolutely superb and your third was a wonderful piece of work. What a pity one of our players actually trying was carried off and could quite possibly miss the next 2/3 of the season.

 

I personally have to say that I thought only 6 Canvey players were worth keeping on that performance.

 

Boylan, Knight, JK, Parms, Potter and Brayley. I think their jobs are safe for Saturday.

You certainly dominated the important action in the first 15 minutes of the game with some delightful passing and running off the ball. It all went pear shaped for you at the back, the heads dropped and the game-plan thrown out the window by half time. We've been threatening that kind of display for a while. THE important game is Ha*r*w on Saturday. Now if we can stuff the team we hate the most I will be pleased.

Unlikely as Chertsey are not in the premier division, but they did beat 9 man Chesham 5-1 on the opening day of the season, so it was a touch of Canv's well known poetic licience. <img src="/forums/images/icons/grin.gif" alt="" />

Anyway what I was saying is that lastnight a typical Canvey attack would totally leave out the midfield. It would be a kick from the goalie right up to either Gregors or Boylan who I presume where expected by the management to turn on the spot, be sandwiched between two or three defenders, still come out with the ball, run about ten yards and shoot the ball past the 'keeper.

 

Not even the best football players can pull that off!

 

I feel that a goal kick should be directed, not to the wings where it goes straight out of play. But to someone like David Gregory who should flick it on to another midfielder who can hold the ball up while everyone else assumes attacking positions then build up from there.

 

As for the defence. Just like Saturday we didn't hear a peep from Lee Protheroe. Micky Bennett I'd say was at fault for their third goal, he just would not go to the defender, he just kept backing off allowing their player to move closer and closer to the goal. Ben Chenery was also rather quiet although he did give the ball away a few times in desperate situations.

 

In the end Canvey were just like the Stortford match report described them - "Canvey's midfield got bogged down and their style became predictable" <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/let_it_all_out.gif" alt="" />

so you're telling me that the third goal which troy braham scored wasn't class?! to beat the defence as he did and then calmly round ur keeper and slot home wasn't excellent?! goal 4, header which beat keeper and all of the defenders and that was obviously total sh!t. hahahaha!!

lets face it canvey lost. storford should b extremely happy and canvey should be kicking themselves! i personally think storford r pretty rubbish! but hey canvey r now! god knows what the score will be when we play you!
