Who gave the penalty away

was it porter or saunders?

The 1st pen was a 'supposed' hand ball by Jay.

The 2nd was a deliberate hand ball by Matt Lovell.

 

I only had a good view of the 2nd, can't say if the 1st was for real!!

That's what I meant to write... yes it was Ports (very similar names aren't they....not!!)

As I said, couln't make out if it was legitimate or not from where I was sat..!!

I would say the first one was dodgy to say the least as how is a player supposed to get his hand out of the way!!! Also several people claimed it was not in the box and it seemed to be the linesman who awarded it. Porter can count himself a little unlucky but he did not look match fit. As for the second, Mr Lovell did the classis footballer standing on the line bit!!!!! Guilty as charged, but then the penalty save was top notch from Wilko. I still can't believe we lost the game!!!!!

As I said on another thread, the Stevenage guy at the game, said on Confguide that in his view, it was no way a penalty - he thought it hit Ports knee anyway, andthat it was outside the area as well.

 

To my mind (assuming he was that end of the ground), that is probably the best judgment, on the basis that he was a neutral. We would all say "no way" and Stortford fans would say "Clear pen" after all !!

I cannot say whether it was inside the box or not, but it did hit our players hand. It was in my view a case of ball to hand and we were very unlucky to have a penalty awarded against us. On many more occasions the ref would have decided to play on. kmj.

It was Porter and it hit his elbow/lower side of arm and bounced downwards.

Your're getting confused.

They had 2 penalties - Porter handball in 2nd half, Lovell handle on the line in extra time.

 

Saunders (2nd bookable) & Lovell were sent off in extra-time.
