Just thought i'd blow me own trumpet, told you Rob Whitton was the top ref in our league, might not know much about football, but i know a bloody good ref when i see one. Good luck in the middle Rob, might even see you there.

Shame I thought Chris Ledgeway the ref we had today was the best I've ever seen in the ESL (yes even better than Laurie Malyon and I didn't think we would find better!

Really? We had Ledgeway last Tuesday and he was dreadful. I don't think he helps himself with the way he talks to players, like Kevin Pratt (another one I can't stand) he just winds them up with his tone of voice. One of those refs who books players to hide his own incompetence. Most of the cautions he gives must be for dissent purely because he has antagonised them.

 

I don't tend to criticise refs too often because it just sounds like an excuse for losing etc, and I've never done it myself, but I do think that there are certain social skills that some referees lack which are nothing to do with their ability to see what's happening and to apply the Laws.

Almost any ref can look half decent when they have very little to do.

must agree Ledgeway had a good game (ETFC v Stansted) but as Brunob said he didn't have much to do; makes a pleasent change.
