passions still running very high here so apologies if anyone disagrees and thinks I am biased. What did their number 11 do? anyone think the ref was a bit whistle happy apart from when it mattered? Jay 2nd yellow was very harsh, their captain did worse to Pinno up the other end and did not get one!! They played the long ball and we could not deal with it. We scored on 90 minutes(what a goal Jacko) and fell asleep, schoolboy error!! Their 2nd pen... Lovell did the right thing I think, it was either that or a goal, great save Wilko! We went nuts, the team fell asleep, AGAIN and they scored. It just so heartbreaking, the first game after holding out for so long and this game after Jacko stunner and Wilko penalty save. Anyone notice how many times their number 3 chopped down andy and got away with it? Oh and I know we do not like him but in the first and second games their number 5 was a rock for them at the back. We missed Proths tonight, he links the defence and midfield well.

face facts pal, we battled and just about nicked it, your lads battled and just lost out.

We're thrilled and proud of our boys, give yours some credit too.

As for moaning about chopping people down - it's called tackling, try it sometime

Thanks for all the warm congratulations we received and general bonhomie from your fans, we do appreciate it.

Good luck for the remainder of the season.

Allez Les Bleus!

p.s where can i get a copy of the video from please ?

I think you'll see on the other thread plenty of praise for your lads. By rights, you shouldn't have still been in the contest, but full credit to you for pulling it around - if we'd won a game in those circumstances, I'd be over the moon.

However, do let us moan and recriminate among ourselves because we lost in circumstances that leave most of us angry for the way in which we blew it. Hope you go on to win the Trophy, but that doesn't lessen the bad taste in my mouth for our lack of a performance tonight.

It is still too early, and I am too knackered and too bloody angry to make any sensible comments just yet. Allow me to think about it and I shall comment later today.

That was the worst, most unprofessional performance I have seen from any Fleet side for over 20 years.

If nothing else comes out of it, at least it highlights those players who are simply not good or strong enough to play for us and need replacing before bext season.

Essandoh, Manny, Surey, Pinnock, Porter, as a starter.

And to make matters worse , I have got to go to work and face a p**s taking Canvey fan!!

I was completely discusted with the conduct of the Bishop's Stortford bench last night. Sitting in the stand, behind the away dug out, every other word from the assistant manager was 'f this and f that'. Also, just after they scored their 3rd, their physio felt it was neccessary to give the 'v' sign over the top of the dug out to the home supporters. Now come on, if that had happened at Woking, both of them would have been joining the number 11.

Also, is it true that 11 threw a paddy in the tunnel after being sent off and kicked the c**p out of one of the doors? thats what one of the stewards said.

Overall, we created the chances, but yet again we couldn't seem to find the back of the net. We worked hard in points, but I felt that Pinno was poor again. Matt Lovell's sending off was fair enough, a handball on the line, but he still played well. thought Jay was unlucky to get sent off, he shouldn't have been booked first time round, and surely if he got sent off for that, then the stortford number 3 should have walked long before him.

As for what the anonymous poster above says about tackling, is that what they call hacking away at people's legs in Hertfordshire then?

Any news on Jukebox and Manny? thought that Jukebox worked hard, as did the majority of the rest of the squad who played, athough Pinno didn't do as much as he could have done first half. That was when we should have killed the game off though.

Rant over, IT coursework to get on with!

I was sat off to the left of the 'dug-out' and was also shocked at the language, on two occasions he came walking toward us bleeting on like a gobby chav, we all went mad..!!!

Thought Roy was a waste of space last night, no conviction in his shots, very weak, no energy, no desire..!

The Jay send-off was totally OTT, hopefully the club will appeal once the FA see the footage... it looked OK from where I was.

Jukebox, well, I rated him for most of the match, but he gave a few crucial balls away which could have been converted into good chances, still, that's the way he plays, and normally it pays off.

Gleds had a good 1st half but tired early on in the 2nd which was evident when searching for pace.

Should of swapped Surey for Jay in the 2nd half as I thought Ben lacked being a real threat in the middle of the park..

Macca had a good game, my MoM, never gave up and was all over the pitch trying to salvage something from the game..

Wilko - bloody excellent, shame he was let down a couple of times by our defence.

Ports, a couple of excellent blocks but showed lack of fitness mid way through the 2nd.. Shame.

Jacko, played well and scored an excellent 2nd goal..

This is when the game went flat for us, we should of got everyone in front of the goal and kept BS out... instead we got complacent/smug and tried to coast our way through the last two/three minutes.. That's when we lost the game, our heads went down and we had nothing left to fight with.

We underestimated BS to our cost, they took chances that WE gave them on a plate, no wonder we and the team are dissapointed, lessons need to be learnt from last nights game, we are never going to win a thing unless we make crucial changes to the team and face up to our responsibilities..!!

We can't use hacking and bad tackling from BS as an excuse, that's how football at this level is played, christ, if it was us doing it (as we have) then I would hear no complaining...

no, fair enough we can't use bad tackles and bookings that never happened as an excuse, but a bloody awful ref who ignored the linesman's flag for a blatent hand ball should be sorted. Also, there was no need for the incitement from the stortford bench to the home supporters by the dug out. they should be disciplined for it, it was utterly discusting. As I said before, if they had been playing at Woking, they would both have ended up in the changing room before the end of the game.

I've already expressed my sympathy for Porter elsewhere, but Manny? Are you serious?

What interested me is that the referee managed to produce two yellow cards for what could only be interpreted (if they were indeed fouls, which on both occasions was hardly clear-cut) as two professional fouls. Both straight reds or nothing then, surely? I'd be interested to know what the referee writes in his report for those two offences. And as for the first penalty, it looked like ball-to-hand to me.

Of course, this griping doesn't disguise the fact that we simply shouldn't have conceded that last-minute equalizer. Like Stortford in the first game, we played the majority of normal time against ten men and should have finished them off. I can only recall two really close efforts on goal in the second half that we had - a looping header from Roy that went just wide of the left post, and his close-range effort that their 'keeper made a brilliant save from. Of course, if Stortford had been ruthless enough in the first game, we wouldn't have had to go through last night's agony.

Very serious JC.
Manny IS a thoroughbred player - superb at times, but too flimsy and injury prone.I'm afraid it's a physique thing, he is not up the demands of this league.
Plays brilliantly for 2 games - then out injured for 3.
Funny thing was he looked comfortable as he jogged off last night, whilst Ports played the whole game in obvious pain.
He may also be injury prone, but at least he lasted (most of )the match.

And despite being in and out of the team for much season (an undoubted weak point, of course), he's still managed to score nine goals.

The fact is, unless you've got money to spend on transfer fees, the chances of picking up the mythical '20-goal-a-season striker' are very small. If we ditched Manny, who's to say his replacement would be any better? Che netted a dozen goals in 2002-2003, and no-one's bettered it yet.

Obviously, in view of their behaviour, they haven't heard of the Clean up Soccer Campaign.
Also any chance of banning our so called supporters who foul mouth our players, or least having them ejected from the ground? The players must have pretty strong characters to carry on giving their all in view of such provacation.
