Final score

Gravesend & Northfleet 2 Bishops Stortfotd 3.

Semi-final to be played over 2 legs. Hucknall v Bishops Stortford.

Hard lines to the fleet but congratulations to the conference south side.

Sounded like a cracker of a game. So near yet so far for the fleet.

Margate team: Trego, Oates, Charalombous, Barnett, Jjunju, Smith, J.Koeister, P.Koeister, Stadhart, Baptiste, Clarke. Subs: Watson, Green, Hussein.

Watson came on for Oates, don't recall any other subs being used.

And don't assume the fact you hit the woodwork 4 times we were "under the cosh".

If the score at half-time had been 4-4 I wouldn't have been surprised, alas it wasn't.

Just got back from the game. I'm still recovering from the Rocky Horror Show last Saturday, but this was a much better all round performance. Same team as Saturday, apart from Barnett in for Edwards (did not see Bill).

Greg hits the woodwork after about 2 minutes. We hit it again a further 3 times in the first half.

They get 2 goals from not very good keeping in my opinion. The first one was like the Ronaldinho goal for Brazil v England. The second was from about 25 yds out low into the left hand corner. Trego did not move for either.

Greg came off at half time, Che went to right wing back and Darren came on up front. There was only one team in it during the second half and that was Margate. We got an early headed goal from Moses and played well during the half, but did not get any further decent chances.

Green was a sub but did not get on. Once again JK was the best player on the park. Showed his class, but I wish that someone would tell him not to argue with the referee

Makes me feel more optimistic for the coming games and has wiped out Saturdays memory (almost).

Sounds like we gave at least as good as we got against a strong side but were we really unlucky or was it another case of missed chances,an all too familiar story this season. Now lets concentrate on maintaining our conference status with 3 points against Carshalton, a MUST WIN game.Good to see Green is involved again albeit as an unused sub, we need him back ASAP.

In reply to PETER(crawley) a quote from your own website commentary.

20:28 (41 mins)

The Reds goal continues to lead a charmed life as the woodwork comes to the rescue for the fourth time - Moses Jjunju again unlucky.

O.K. so I used my own words but I think the jist is the same.

J.Keister, yes. But P. Koeister? Think he means P.Benevides surely.

The team sheet I was given reads:
7. John Koeister
8. Peter Koeister

And Cookie, not the same. The commentary was from my text updates, although embellished by the chap actually doing the updates.

The lads stood up and played really really well, and did us proud tonight. Unbelievably unlucky to have hit the woodwork that many times. Alexis hit the first rebound, if that had gone in it would have been a superb goal, and I for one really wished he had found the net with his beautiful shot. Second half we were more dominant, but the chances did not come. Aaron almost did it from a header at the final corner just before the whistle blew. He had a really good game tonight.

Cracking good game on a beautiful playing surface, but what a shame we were consigned to the stand, not good for atmosphere.

Came home feeling much better than Saturday though, hope their performance has an uplifting effect on the team. They all thoroughly deserved the applause from the fans at the end.

Similarly just got back and can't really add to Rich G report.

Also somewhat embarrassingly i missed Crawleys second goal(comfort break and the crowd did not make any noise to indicate a second goal had been scored!!!) and feel rather stupid as i thought it was only 1-0 at half time and indeed until near the end when Trego went up for a couple of corners .

Just to add that despite hitting post and bar with rasping headers and volleyed shots fro Moses,Greg and Rocky i thought Crawley were marginally the better team in first half.

First 20 minutes of second half it was all Margate and then fairly even as the Gate pressed forward and Crawley also had a couple of chances as gaps appeared in the defence.

WE also had a cast iron penalty when Clarke dribbled into box and was blatantly fouled.I think the linesman put his flag up for offside but i was level with play and no-one was within 20 yards of being offside.Even the crawley fans were thinking it was a really bad decision.CK went mad at the linesman-it was most blatant penalty ever and i'm normally fairly level headed about these things.

Whilst not their absolute starting eleven, nearly all the crawley team were first team players/squad.

Amazingly, their defence lookedeven more suspect than ours, and it is easy to see why Phil Smith normally plays in goal ahead of Little-he was hopeless

In fact, needless to say that without Edwards, we actually looked better at the back. How Barnett does not get in ahead of him amazes me.

Now Smith and Barnett are still only average and do get on the wrong side of the player much too often and thus look clumsy, but they are the best we have got alongside JK.

As above, did not see second Crawley goal, but first goal conceded from looping soft cross from the wing was a terrible error by PT.I am afraid he is just a bit too small.

As RichG said Greg subbed at half time but did not look injured-in fact had a very good first half.

Green sub-but during kickabout at half time did not exactly look like he was fit to play-still very tentative.

We played ok tonight-always do on a better pitch.

Had we had a bit more class in midfield-or a ball winner like Gradley -we may just have edged it .

Overall mildly unlucky to lose

To be fair the flag was up very early, well before the challenge in the box.

The other baffling decision was the offside given after the Crawley defender "passed" the ball to your chap.

I'll give you that one.

I was also very confused by the lino's flag when Clarke got upended and I am sure that it could not have been offside. At the time I was looking for a penalty. The yellow flag lino gave some poor decisions for both teams.

Game was played in a good spirit. I do not think that there were any cards.
