FOR ZEALSTER....

Recommended Posts

Infinitely better than they were when I saw then in 2003.

Fat, greying, forty-year olds trying to re-live their youth. And that was just the band.

It was almost as embarrassing as when you see adverts for the Solid Silver Sixties show, featuring Gerry & The Pacemakers and the Searchers live at the Alban Arena.

Always a bad idea to try and re-visit the past, I reckon. Still - money talks.

Charlatans were excellent at Finsbury when I saw them.

Today's Beatle-related listening treat!!...

And what a good album this is! There's some cracking tunes on there - certainly an improvement on the dreadful McCartney II of a couple of years previous.

Tug Of War, Somebody Who Cares, Here Today - Macca melody at its best! A couple of songs to be wary of on side two, but if you're a big McCartney fan, you know to expect these anyway!

I'm emjoying this re-discovery. I'd never really rated Tug Of War before, and it came as a refreshing surprise to hear how good it really is (though not his best album of the 80s - that's Flowers In The Dirt).

Well, I did discover this weekend that I'm actually allowed to play music louder at work than I am at home - especially when "the baby is trying to sleep"!

Yeah, it's okay and maybe the lack of volume didn't do it justice, just the thing is, I'm really not much of a Who fan! They'd get into my Top 20 bands of the 60s I reckon, but in the lower reaches.

Still. Daltrey sure puts in a performance, doesn't he!!?

Today's Beatle-related album...

Wow! This album is superb. I rate it as one of then best albums of the 90s, actually!

Released on the Beastie Boys' Grand Royal label, this is not really what you'd expect to hear from an ex-Beatle's son (ie it doesn't sound like Saltwater!), yet Sean still got slated for sounding like his dad vocally. Err.. well he is his son, you thick, lazy journo twats.

The single, Home, was once described as sounding like John Lennon and Kurt Cobain jamming on a cloud in heaven somewhere. I'd go along with that.

The opener, Mystery Juice, is quality and my fave on the album,.
