Dagenham game

Recommended Posts

Now how close did we want to come in that game?? how many times did we hit the woodwork? And when he came on, what a performance from Tostao, some more pin point crosses that only seemed to end up on woodwork !! I think that we deserved a point from that game, and the Dagenham fan i was talking to seemed to think so too, he was also saying how if we played like that all the time we would have no problem staying up although i dont think many people even thought abot us going down in the first place! and i got 4 points for my first attempt at the prediction league !!

Well bring on Hereford and Stevenage and lets have a crowd as good as it was tonight for the Hereford game! I feel maybe the referee was poor again tonight, he spoilt it by not letting the game flow and what the hell was that booking of Tostao about??

Forgot my password so having to log on unregistered till i get back to work tomorrow. Was one of the most entertaining games ive seen for a long time. Wasnt much in it between the sides and both teams closed down very quickly. Andy seemed pretty upset at the end that we didnt get anything out of the game but i was proud to have watched a Fleet performance like that. Ratings for me in the game.

Wilkerson (7)

Lee (7) Barnett (7) Burton (7) Sturgess (6)

Strouts (8) Owen (8) Bentley (8) Jackson (8)

Booth (7) Hatch (9)

Also agree that Tostao looked a class act when he came on. Dont we have a decent squad ! Good side the Daggers by the way. I am top of the prediction league, say i am top of the league !

Have we actually signed Toasty yet, or is he an extended trialist or sumthing, or on loan? He does look very useful. He seemed to really want to win tonight as well, encouraging his team mates, and running to get the ball and placing it down for the goalkeeper, so as to hurry him up (as if it worked).

And I suppose I'm not the only one wishing Liam was just a fraction shorter?

The first thing i noticed when we got got back into the conference is that if you dont take your chances or make a slight mistake you will get punished for it!

But as the season progresses it will all even itself out, unfortnatly the refs dont get any better!

Good luck for the the rest of season!

You really do have to stick your chances away in this league, the strikers are generally much better than in the Rymans and will punish you if you give them a chance, so you have to take yours.

I thought that the football from both sides in the first half was terrible. We improved marginally in the second half, but looked like a side missing key players. Equally, I know that you are missing some players, but, as several Daggers fans have said, you seemed to rely on the long ball almost exclusively - which might be unfair as it was based on only one game - now, this will do OK for the first 10-15 games, but, as Margate found out, after a while teams will have scouted you out and will know where your forwards run to, where the ball is played etc, and this can lead to a lean spell.

Thanks for the friendly reception, and good luck for the rest of the season (barring your trip to Victoria Road)

Anyone think Lew Watts will start Saturday? I think he will and will drop Barnett because he never benches Burton although Aaron is a better player. We need to start tightening at the back. Although may not be a fair assesment as we've played two favourites, we could've scored 4 last night but quite easily let the same in....The Daggers fans do raise some valid points. We need to put chances away. Hatch last night was fantastic and gave their defence all sorts of problems but Boothy didnt score 20 goals in the Ryman and isnt cut out to be a starting striker in the conference. He's much better if he plays in a Peter Beardsley role just behind the front two. We have an embarassment of riches in midfield. Who would u drop to get Tostao in the side??? I dont think u can drop anyone...Che looked sharp when he came on and would prefer to see him start on Saturday. Other than that hope this new player from Stevenage gets fit quickly to spice up competition within the fwds. Cant we get Joffy Vansittart in?!!!!!!!!!

A superb performance by the lads, and on balance of chances and dodgy refereeing decisions a draw would've been a fairer result. While some of the penalty shouts were perhaps a little doubtful, I can't see how the referee missed the blatant trip on Bentley, particularly with the linesman flagging furiously.

I thought Liam was excellent, with all of the new signings having something to offer too. I hope that Sturgess isn't too bad after he had to come off through injury - will we have to play Eliot Martin on Saturday, with Skins still out? I agree with Matt (GNFC) on Che - Boothy, despite putting the penalty away brilliantly, doesn't look up to starting matches, for he looked lost and tired in the second half.

I agree that we have a large squad now, which is good because it copes with the injuries, but it leaves huge selection problems for Andy. For example, it will be a massive shame if key players from last year who have yet to feature despite being fit, like Jamie Turner and Smudger, get few games this year.

Disappointed that we didn't put at least one of the efforts that hit the woodwork away, but that's the way it goes. I'm sure that if we continue to put in the effort that we have so far, the points will start to come - don't forget that he have just played the two leading title contenders. However, in order to reach our peak, we really need Macca and Fridge back in the side as soon as possible - two colossuses from last season. Get well soon lads!

Thought we deserved a share of the spoils, but you gotta put the ball in the net. When Tostao came on thought we were the better side surely he must start on saturday.Didnt think we really played our football last night, if we play the feet we are a much better team.In the end two sloppy goals cost us dearly, but hey if we carry on the way we have started which i think we will mid table is looking good at end of the season.
