Fleet robbed by the ref

Recommended Posts

3 blatant penalties - only 1 given (obviously five seconds of severe shirt-pulling in the penalty box wasn't long enough for any of the officials to notice any players being rugby-tackled to the ground).

Defensively, we were a bit dodgy - Dagenham's first goal appeared to be a combination of a misjudged punch by Paul Wilkerson, with the defence looking for offside rather than playing to the whistle. The second goal was the result of a very poor schoolboy error and probably cost us the game.

Having said that, we played well enough tonight and could have won it - hitting the post once and the crossbar twice.

Still, life in the conference is great, the opposition are not anything special - it's 11 v 11 on the pitch and the first win will come!

Well said super daz!! I feel Wilko could have caught that cross for the first goal, but hey who are we to criticise, hes a good keeper and kept us in the game on saturday! The second was such a sooooooft goal, you could tell what they were going to do and yeah it wa created by a schoolboy error! The officials were crap AGAIN!!

I agree you should have got something out of it, you don't seem to be able to finish though! Our keeper only made 3 saves despite you having 13 shots, the rest were off target or woodwork. The Daggers were plain awful today, at the back we were crap, but then when you only have 3 fit defenders what do you expect? We currently have 4 injured defenders and we only two games in! We decided tonight to hit the long ball which is why we did'nt look anything special, we can play good football when we try though. Think you may need to tone the long ball down a bit unless you all want stiff necks! When you first come up, it all seems like its not much of a step up, but as Margate found out, when the enthusiasm dies a bit, you can go a month without a win like they did last year. The officials were absolutely diabolical, the lino at our end gave about 4 offsides in the second half when they were about 3 yards onside! We should have had a pen in the first half when your bloke pushed ours over, but then you should have had two pens so it evened out. Get used to the officials - they are useless. Well done anyway, put the ball in the net a bit more and you'll do OK.

SuperDaz, the ref was generally inept - they tend to be in the Conference, I think that they are worse than in the Rymans.

We ourselves had a few good penalty shouts - in the first half Perkis went up for a header and was pulled to the ground; a cross was helped out for a corner by a defenders hand; in the second half McDougald went up for a header and was climbed all over by the defender.

As to hitting the woodwork - don't forget that we hit the post and the bar and don't get me started on the offsides that were given...

2 games, 2 crap refs. 1 point that could possibly have been 6.

But so many positive things from last night that we shouldn't be

too disapointed. Like Saturday we had 14 heroes on the pitch

and gave it everything. Best atmosphere at Stonebridge Road

for a long time. And lets not forget we lost our first home game

last season and look where we are now.

Conference? luv it. Now for Hereford and our first win.

Yes it was the best atmoshere at Stonebridge road for a long time and a lot of the credit for that has to go to Dagenham.

I thought their supporters were terrific and it was nice that there was no segregation.

I bet our shop would love to sell as many shirts in total that they wore to an away game. I liked the drummer and the trumpeter but special mention has to go to the comedy physio, brilliant!

The only dissapointment was the Dagenham football, I expected a bit more from them than just pumping long balls for 90 minutes, most of which seemed to be aimed at the garage over the road. Still they say the mark of a good team is to play badly and still pick up 3 points and I am sure Dagenham will be at or near the top at the end of the season.

All of our lads were heroes again last night and if we can get a few of the injured boys fit again I think Andy is going to have a few selection problems.

We weren't beaten by the ref we were beaten by our inability to put the ball in the net. We created far more chances than Dagenham, the difference is that they put their chances away and we didn't.

Stadhart and Booth are good players, but neither of them are going to get twenty goals in the conference. We have to get a "goalscorer" and we really have to get him now.

I know we are going to be told that we can't afford to bring someone like that in without letting someone go, but I would say that we can't afford not to buy.

There were 2,000 people there last which is twice the budgeted figure, so that's an extra £7 to £8,000 in the coffers. Spend that money on a striker start scoring goals and we could get that sort of attendance every week.

C'mon Brian and Andy, [color:"red"]YOU KNOW IT MAKES SENSE [/color]

Back last night from warmer climates midway through the second half , I looked at the BBC text commentary for the up to date score .

It reminded me of the Gloucester fans who got more excited if they won a corner than when they scored .

The BBC principally record the time of each throw-in ; who took it and whether he was attacking or defending . Is this anything to do with the stats that appear American style in Premiership clubs programmes so the sport becomes irrelevant and only the stats matter , like cricket/baseball/American football ?
