Not the result we wanted but it wasnt a bad game.

Salisbusry were a big strong side with at least 7 6 footers in the team and a centre forward who was 10 ft 8. Salisbury came out of the blocks quickly and were the better side in the first 15 with Mel making a good save and Pat hacking a goalbound effort away to safety.

However after that I thought we gradually asserted ourself on the game with their keeper saving well from Nathan. In the second half with us getting on top of their long ball/long throw game plan I thought we might be able to get the winner. Their keeper has made a couple of blinding saves, one from Cuz was outstanding and he pushed another effort onto the bar. Dorms saw a mishit effort go inches wide and Steve Forbes was hacked down in the last minute, a foul which everyone in the ground except the ref sadly thought was a pen. I spoke to Forbesy afterwards and he said that the ref told him he had dived this was despite the hole in his sock from the Salisbury defenders studs.

I felt we edged the game but I'm not gonna begrudge Salisbury a point as

a) They didnt blantantly time-waste like every one else we play at home

B) They didnt stick 10 behind the ball for 90 mins like everyone else

c) It actually looked like they were trying to win the game.

We mustn't give up. It will be interesting to see how Boretree get on at Salisbury next week whilst we go to Tonbridge who are presently making Cheshunt look like world beaters.

keep going!!

A little dissapointed with the result but reasonably pleased with the performance. This is the sort of game we would have lost in the past, but from midway through the first half onwards we were able to play some football and created far and away the better chances. Excellent save from their keeper midway through the 2nd, Dorms went close on a couple of occasions and how the ref didn't see the foul on Forbes I'll never know - Steve clearly played the ball and their lump clearly caught him on the ankle. Bottle Job from the ref. Missed Keiran as Cuz wasn't able to get as many crosses in as we would have liked, Matty Game was excellent, as was Paaaaat. Another clean sheet as well which is good to see.

Elsewhere a good win for Yeading strengthens their position on the driving seat. They're playing Staines on Tuesday - if they win that they'll be 9 clear of 'tree which could be decisive.

The title race obviously isn't over yet, but this result has hit our chances. Realistically we are going to have to win 8 out of 10 with some tricky games still to come to win the title.

Yeading is looking like a must win game for both us and Boretree now. If Yeading win on Tuesday it is going to be difficult.

But the lads have got the character and neccessary quality to go on a decent unbeaten run and make the title a close run thing.

No, but we're not throwing the towel in after one goal-less draw.

Gazza, sort it out - it ain't over til the fat lady sings.

What are you on about? Whos throwing the towel in? Its going to be difficult, of course it is. Its going to be difficult for you too, after all if we win our game in hand we go above you. Its going to be tough but if we string the results together we can do it.

Whats happened to you on the isthmian forum by the way?

Quote from Dave T administrator on the Salisbury forum.

"Great support from everyone - the Ricky lot seemed very complacent, as though they didn't need to bother getting behind their team".

Hehe! Not bothering to get behind their team? What Billericay? Surely not!

Cheers

Of course, being deaf helps in the West Country...ooo arrr, oooo arrr!!!

And like you have said yourself, one set of supporters opinion is only half the story...Ooooo, except when you can have a quick dig at us...

Considering that they brought only...er...about 12, our home support was impressive in comprison to...er...Boretree's...without giving any free tickets away to apathetic school children (was it 90 odd again?...not really doing it for your club is it?).

Wow! That was quite a bite I got on rod one Gazza! Now I'll reel you in. I was only quoting a Salisbury administrator, after all I wasn't there. That was a bit harsh on our West Country friends who I personally have always found to be most convivial.

So why shoot the messenger? It wasn't Braintree he was referring to, It was concerning Billericay so I thought you may be interested. This is the Ricay forum after all.

You've been trumpeting previously at how vocal Ricay supporters are, I've maintained it might sound loud to you when standing alongside your yelling mates. Your response as always was to get personal with me and then try defer attention by making comparisons with Braintree (are you a professional politician?). I've never heard IRON supporters go making any grandiose claims about themselves, or their attendances have you? So whats Braintree and their attempts at encouraging kids in got to do with the price of fish? All I have done is follow a link provided by your good self only to read that bit about Ricays crowd being on the quiet side. That Salisbury fan and I suspect he was indeed THERE went on to report that some of the home fans appeared to leave early, perhaps some have recognised and I speculate here its because they feel (rightly or wrongly) that Ricay are dropping too many points in recent months and by doing so have let the games you had in hand evaporate. Or was it perhaps they needed to get their car mats under their wheels so not to get bogged down in that muddy car park you have down there?

Have a nice day, 7c thats not bad compared to late.

dont think we did too much wrong in this game. On another day their keeper wouldnt have made all the saves he did.

as for the pen, i reckon had it been ten minutes earlier it would have been given, the fact it was the last kick of the game the ref simply bottled it.

A very hard fought point against a physically superior side. I rated Salisbury as one of the better sides we've faced this season and reckon they'll run Boretree close next saturday. As for the pen, even a Sunday morning ref would've given that.
