Today's Game 12/03/2005

Based on the fact that Steve McKimm isn't particularly fast and yet he beat their left back for pace on one occasion, I think that playing Moussa would be an excellent choice.

As for the game I thought ALL the players played their socks off after Skins got sent off and were so unlucky not to come away without the win I think we deserved.

Should win Tuesday night , even with only one recognised defender (Gledhill) - how did they fail to score against 10 men for 70 minutes , with only one out and out defender for Fleet on the pitch ...incidentally , Jay Saunders was SUPERB after the shuffle ... knew Manny would be the star man up front ...Roy has got to be more than just a provider , which he has been doing lately ... if we play Moussa and Jukebox on Tues night , we'll see ...biggest problem for Tues though is picking four defenders...COME ON YOU REEEEEDS !!!

With injuries, suspensions and cup tied players I haven't a clue what team we will put out on Tuesday but after todays showing it shouldn't matter.

Could look like this:
Wilkerson
Lovell
Jackson
Gledhill
Saunders
Sidibe
Surey
Mckimm
Drury
Essendoh
Ominyimi

Lined up thus:
Wilkerson
Lovell Gledhill Surey Jackson
Sidibe McKimm Saunders Drury
Essandoh Onoyimni

Moussa on the right, Drury on the left, should give them something extra to think about

Stortford basically had 4 real chances in the whole game - and I think the only one on target was the goal.

To be fair, there was a low free-kick that Wilko held comfortably low to his right in the first half. But yes, they didn't have that many opportunities at all - apart from that header into the side-netting in the first half, which really was a golden opportunity, and a better one than the couple Jukebox had in the second half.

As for the penalty shout, I wasn't convinced. I would be happy to be persuaded otherwise by Harry's photos of the incident, though... <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

An alternative view of the game.

From a Stortford perspective we feel slightly fortunate to be in the velvet bag for tomorrow's draw, but only slightly.

Our TAnnoy man keeps stats on the game and counted that Blues had more attempts on goal than your lads, and more on target.

Your boys fought tooth and nail and you are right to be proud of them, and your support was also excellent.

Our lot have played much better this season than that, especially against Dagenham and canvey, who despite an earlier post, did not field their reserves against us! and were both gutted to lose, especially canvey.

I thought we had played well up to your goal (which was a bit against the run of play) and struggled for momentum once you were down to 10 and playing on the break. Still, I enjoyed the late equaliser, and based on possession, we deserved something, though in Manny Omnyimini (!) you had the best player on the pitch.

Our handling of the game left a few questions unanswered (not enough stewards, exit routes etc( but apart from a friendlies against spurs, this was our biggest crowd at this ground, and hopefully a more regular thing in the future.

I found the majority of fleet fans I met to be a decent lot too.

I'm looking forward to Tuesday already.

Allez Les Bleu!

Don't rely on the stats from your PA man - he got through four bottles of beer while watching the game. BS(how appropriate) had only one effort on target in the whole game - the goal. All others were either blocked before they got anywhere near the target or went wide or over the bar.

I really enjoyed the game, the atmosphere and the ground.

If it had not been for the idiocy of one Stortford "supporter" on the way out, I would have left with a totally positive view of the club.

All in all, the boys battled like heroes and created chances to see us through. Gledhill and Saunders where amazing!

Interesting thread this !

It drifts from one thing to another and then back to the matchday arrangements at BS.

I think it just proved how us civilised non-league supporters can enjoy a beer or two with the opposition's fans and stand wherever we like in the ground with no problems.

It also proved that we don't need two dozen or so "orange jacketed storm-troupers" parading around the ground with radios and puffed out chests!

I bet the BS supporters can't wait to turn up at our ground, be told they can't have a beer and then be made to stand in the rain for almost 2 hours - bring your brollies guys!

If you BS guys do fancy a drink before the game go into "The Plough" opposite the ground because the landlord there does have an ounce of common sense in his brain !

Nah, it's not segregated. Only FC matches are typically segregated, FAT and KSC matches are usually non-seg'd.. Anyway, we are a nie bunch of freindly supporters so what's the problem 'mixing it up'..?

And yes, I bet the Orange Light Brigade will be out in force... ''Echo one bravo charlie oscar... tea is gettin cold''...

Well, the be fair there was their goal and the free-kick Wilko held that I mentioned above, so that's at least two. I have to say I can barely remember us having a shot on target besides Manny's goal, so perhaps it is true. If you think about it, all our best opportunities - e.g. the two in the second half for Jukebox - ended up going wide.
