Today's Game 12/03/2005

Despite the enforced changes through injury etc I thought the boys, playing with ten men for 70 minutes did us proud today.

Everyone gave their best and I think Stortford can count themselves very fortunate to be in the semi-final draw. Can't argue with Skins sending off, you could he was trying to keep as far away from the referee as possible when he brought down the Stortford player. The ref spotted him in the end though !

Did anyone else notice some supporters walking around the terraces with pints and glass bottles of beer during the game?

Very odd, I thought alcohol was banned from the terraces? Perhaps, it is only in Conference National grounds and up.

Also, what a farce for anyone who left the ground via the exit at the top left hand side of the ground. We were lead through an airport car parking lot and then either had to vault a ten foot gate or squeeze through the gap between the gates to get out.

Roll on Tuesday.

And interesting arrangement of words. Pray, how long have you been a spectator of Club of Football, Gravesend and Northfleet?

If you are talking about the Calsberg bottles they may look like glass but they are actually plastic. One of the reasons why staying in the civilised echelons of football is a good thing. Ask any real Fulham supporter whether they prefer Div 3 (old) or the Premiership.

Anyway I did see the difficult way they snet you lot through the airport car park. I saw some old bloke only just make it. Also getting out of the car park was a night, it took us nearly half an hour. Passed the Supporters coach on the way out though so that was nice. Also if the car park closes at seven what do they do for evening games?

Was going to Chelsea on Tuesday, not anymore see you all Tuesday.

Stortford basically had 4 real chances in the whole game - and I think the only one on target was the goal.

In the first half, the lead up to Skins sending off looked dangerous, they had one lobbed over Wilko and wide, and their Centre Forward put a free header from a corner, wide at the back post.

I cant recall Wilko having anything to do second half, except race of his line a couple of times, and save one long range effort that appeared to be going wide, until that late, late goal.

If Andy had buried the chance with a few minutes left, it would have been all over, and Mckimm also had an earlier one blocked on the line after great wing play by Drury.

Wasnt sure about our penalty appeal - I thought their guy may just have got the ball first, but Manny looked astonished - either he just couldnt believe no penalty had been given, or he was just frustrated that he hadnt used the chance better.

That appeal came immediately after they also had a loud appeal for hand ball in our box turned down (looked from the other end that if it hit a hand, it was more ball to hand) and they had a later appeal also for handball against Lovell, also waved away.

Thought Gleds had a real stormer today - would definitely have made him our MOM. Surey worked his socks off and Mckimm also pressed the opposition well all over the pitch.

The most pleasant surprise today, though, was Lovell's excellent performance at right back - and we all thought he couldnt defend !!!

Something of a downer to lose that late goal, especially such a soft ne (why wasnt someone on the post?), but hey, we're still in the competition, with a home replay to come. And with Woking going out today, it's improved our chances a little, I feel (and wouldnt it be nice if Hucknall could beat Hereford on Tuesday?).

Nice little ground they've got incidentally, but very little room to move, and only 2 turnstiles open before the game was a minor gripe.

I was taking pictures behind the goal and have a perfect view of it. The Stortford Player can clearly be seen holding Mannys arm.

I thought everyone who was forced to play out of position (which was most of them) played well today.

I'd agree about Lovell but he does commit himself to interceptions and tackles, mostly it came off today but if you get one of those wrong when you are the last man it can be dangerous.

Although Drury did miss a good chance I thought he was the best player on the park today. Roy still looks out of sorts and it is a shame that Lee Gledhill can't grow a bit as he has been a revelation at centre back.

With injuries, suspensions and cup tied players I haven't a clue what team we will put out on Tuesday but after todays showing it shouldn't matter.

Could look like this:
Wilkerson
Lovell
Jackson
Gledhill
Saunders
Sidibe
Surey
Mckimm
Drury
Essendoh
Ominyimi

Moussa on the right, Drury on the left, should give them something extra to think about
