Back to the throw-in: the Laws state that a players cannot unfairly impede or distract the thrower from taking the throw-in. In my view that would include standing toe to toe with him, but it is a matter of what the referee considers unfair under the circumstances.

 

The offence does not occur after the ball is thrown, therefore the ball does not enter play. The throw-in has not been taken in accordance with the Laws so the game is re-started with the throw-in.

 

I cannot comment on why Dave Allen was deemed to have committed an offence or why on the second occassion he was not as I was not there. As you say, the report will clear everything up. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

 

As it is a cautionable offence to enter or re-enter the field of play without the referee's permission, maybe it's also an offence to re-enter the world of the living without permission? The poor ref got confused.

The thing is Mr Invis' the same thing happened again some seconds later.

 

It's like most things really. Unfair tackles which could break someone's leg or finish off his footballing career, nothing happens. But you had better not throw the ball away or take your shirt off after scoring otherwise you will get booked!
