Slough Town v Chelmsford City: MATCH THREAD

Eddie seriously needs to look at what he does for Tuesday.

Hodges at the back is a waist and Metcalf needs to be more alert and decisive. He is too slow on the ball and bottles it on challenges.

We get to the edge of the box and stop - pass it sideways a couple of times and either lose the ball or end up playing it backwards.

Only positive today was Lovegrove when he came on - should he be starting on Tuesday instead of Metcalf?

You mean Mason SR? He did very well and was one of the few to take credit from this game. Could have done with him having a pop from outside the box when in good positions though, something our players just don't do. Shame Carbon's goal was disallowed, would have changed things - certainly not offside.

As they did at their place in the league, Chelmsford played with a line of six along the back with a further three in front of them. When we were attacking in the second half they brought another back and had ten people defending. There's not always anything you can do about that.

As for Lovegrove, I think you mean Mason who I thought was our man of the match, possibly along with Saulsbury who did well at the back.

Mason can't play Tuesday as he's cup-tied. I'd imagine Spence will be out as it looked like a hamstring for I guess Veli would come in.

We do need to get Hodgey back up front, and Murph back to centre back in my opinion, but the left-handed side is a real problem. Only sollution is Danny Steer at the mo and is he fit enough yet?

Agreed impressed with Leigh Mason, looks like a good signing. We were very poor first-half, but a bit unlucky second although as people say they camped out their defence stuck one-up front, which i'm suprised to why Eddie did not throw Hodgie up there sooner as Murph2 had a poor one today.

Chelmsford are well organised with a lot of energy. An outside bet for the play-off's I feel as they have a new manager who has brought a lot of Ford United (AKA Redbridge) players with him.

I'd rather Sam Shepherd gets a start in midfield. With players like Metcalfe and spencer who keep bottling tackles/poor passing we need someone who can put their foot on the ball and do something with it, just like Veli used to.

Leigh Mason looks a good prospect, but needs more backup.

I felt that Chelmsford have been the best team we have played at Stag Meadow all season (apart from Eastleigh), probably made to look better by the way we performed on the day.

Marcus and I both agree that Leigh Mason looked very promising today..Marcus chose Saulsbury as his motm, i'm torn between seedel and carbon today...thought carbon in particular was extremely unlucky...there was no way he was offside

thought seedel was on form as he appears to be one of the few players who a) doesn't get bullied off the ball and B) when he loses the ball he chases after it instead of hanging his head and letting them get away.

I thought we just lacked structure today...lots of people playing out of position lead to a lack of successful passes adn general confusion...which was a shame as if we'd been on good form we could have taken chelmsford....

will be interested to see tuesday's line up

Thought we got what we deserved from the game today. Was only good fortune that we didn't lose 6-0. About 80% of passes made under pressure were lost, can't remember one good cross, and only two shots. No-one seems to want to take on a shot, just multiple short passes on the edge of the area, till we lose the ball. Hodgey has got to come back up front. What is the point of losing to good sides because our best forward is playing at the back? Positives for me today was how James Saulsbury played, looking more composed with each game, and Matt Seedel strength on the ball likewise. Please Eddie, more crosses onto Hodges head!

Obviously it's not ideal to have Hodgey at the back but what was the alternative today? Steer's still injured, Haddow, Gyoury and Moller have all gone. Who would have played at the back if not Hodgey, who is a bloody good defender. Spencer? Harris? If you do that you limit their attacking threat and neither are great defensively.

It's alright moaning about the situation but unless there's an alternative.......

Leigh Mason MOTM by a country mile for me.

Two things we need to work on 1) defending corners (WTF happens?)

2) Shooting - it is possible from outside the six yard box.

We NEED a creative left sided player - I think Danny can fill that role - hope he is fit soon.

On reflection I wish I hadn't slagged Mets off
