Aldershot

Great game tonight. Spirited performance, a great atmosphere and a tremendous game of football.

Things didn't start too well though. A cross from the right was not dealt with properly and the ball fell to Tim Sills to fire a low shot home after just 5 minutes.

It looked a case of here we go again but we battled hard and from a great Lee Boylan cross, Steve Burton scored his first Canvey goal with a powerful header on 16 minutes.

Aldershot though gradually began to take control. Danny made a great save from a deflected shot and Aldershot looked extremely dangerous on the break putting in a number of dangerous crosses.

Eventually another cross from the right caused havoc. Danny made a superb reaction block but the ball fell loose for Jake Robinson to thump home 6 minutes before half time.

Lee Boylan had looked very lively throughout and fizzed an effort wide but on the stroke of half time an excellent Ollie Berquez cross caused chaos and Lee fired home after a real scramble.

Canvey started the second half with real purpose and the intrioduction of Mario for the ineffective Tom Williamson did wonders. The game started to swing Canvey's way when Shots' David Lee was sent off for a second booking.

Mario was beginning to pull the strings in midfield and he had a couple of efforts on goal. Lee fired a free kick over and at the other end Jake Robinson cut in but fired his shot straight at Danny.

Jon Keeling came on for Midgers and suddenly Canvey were alive. Duffers was wreaking havoc down the left and his crosses were causing all sorts of problems. Keeling was going past people and a well struck shot was held well by the keeper. Duffers drove an effort wide, Burton volleyed over after a great cutback by Keeling and Mints hit the side netting when he should have scored.

The atmosphere was electric, the football superb and Canvey were really going for it. Aldershot held out and could have won but for a superb Danny save after one of their players hit a superb Marco Van Basten style effort.

Ollie was announced man of the match but moments later was sent off for a second booking. We held on for a deserved draw but in fairness probably deserved to win.

We dominated the second half and played some great football. Noto and Keeling definitely should have been on from the start. They scared the life out of the Shots defence!!

Duffers was outstanding, absolutely on fire. Burton showed some nice touches, whilst Lee was lively. Sedgy performed well in defence.

A great performance, full of skill and determination. A bit dissapointed with the crowd of 904. Thought we'd definitely get over a 1000 but think Shots may have brought a few less than usual. Only looked about 200 in the away end. Was still a great atmosphere, the best at Park Lane for a while and the last 20 minutes when we chasing a winner was really exhilerating.

Great game, great performance and a fine point. Good stuff Yellows!!

I left home expecting to get beat and I have got to say at half time was happy to settle for a draw, by full time I was gutted we were by far the better team and unlucky not to win.

They will say Danny saved us, but that is why he is there.

We were unlucky not to win and we had 5 more clear chances than they did. If I could find a criticism it would be we could have been a bit more direct in attack, that would be picky.

Sedg seems to be settling down and finding a niche.

We were the better side if we continue in the same vein, it will not be bad, bring on Carlisle.

Due you not think playing against 10 men had something to do with you having more of the second half. With 11 I think we would have won easily.Anyway another good game between the two of us again.See you next season.

Don't think so. I think Lee's goal on the stroke of half time turned the game in our favour slightly. Aldershot seemed to lose something in the second half. Wether it was the man getting sent off I'm not sure but they didn't look as threatening and didn't really get down the flanks that well.

Crittenden and Caceres impressed me for Shots.

Great team performance Friday night.

Wasn't expecting to get much from the match before kick off but we seemed to match them stride for stride.

For me the Shots didn't appear that much weaker after the sending off and still looked dangerous on occassions. Gutted we couldn't make the advantage tell.

Ollie for MOTM - not really he didn't stand head and shoulders above some of the others - again, it was a great team performance where everyone seemed to raise their level of play.

Duffers set out his stall from his first touch, brought it down, kept it in play, controlled it and began to take them on down the wing. Duffers frustrates the hell out of me - why can't he be more consistent and run at people to create chances like he did on Friday?

A mention about Burtons goal, beautiful cross and the goal well taken - now signed on loan until the end of the season - probably spend the rest of the season on the bench then

Mario came on and once again looked strong in midfiled.

IMHO Keeling has struggled a little bit in the last few games - not with his commitment or work rate - but he has struggled to get around people when taking them on. Friday night he was top notch - beat the Shots defenders every time turning them inside out - fantastic display. Everyones performance on Friday was top draw - especially after the poor game at Burton Albion.

Another important game on Saturday at Gravesend - lets get plenty of support across to Kent and hopefully a vital 3 points.

Ive not attended many games this season but took a stroll to the lane on Friday. In my opinion, I thought both teams could have won, Aldershot would have if it wasn't for Danny. Mario looked good as did Jonny Keeling who I think is a fantastic player. One thing that did strike me before Shots second goal was where was the marking on the man on the far post? I know he didn't put it in but he should have done.

Another thing I noticed was the referee who although I feel he made bad decisions, I felt he made them both ways but was a little card happy as I didn't feel there was a real nasty challenge in the game. One thing the game taught me was the difference in quality as Canvey switched off a few times at the back and Shots could've scored whereas a season back, you wouldn't have seen that in the Ryman.

Credit to both teams for a fantastic Game of football, almost as good as Chelsea vs Barcelona and all the best to the Shots for the rest of the season.

Not sure - doesn't ring any bells.

Thought he would have picked up a fine for his views on the ref at our game against Northwich. Especially when Chennery got "taken out"

He was very open with his views about the ref on the radio and even the interviewer commented that Jeff didn't seem to hold back his comments and didn't appear worried about a possible fine. Jeff was right though and I don't think he worries about the odd little fine.
