who is the best referee in the Esse Senior League

Best referee in recent seasons, though not in Essex Senior in my opinion was JJ Ross. Spoke to players before during and after games, got most decisions right and kept games flowing.

 

Unfortunately things have not run as smoothly on the league list. This begs some real questions. The rules of the game are the same at all levels. No disrespect to ESL, but there are less cloggers in the football league and players have more time to play football when you take away all the kick, bollock and bite. So why does it get so hard to ref at the higher levels?

Who remembers Mr Green who had a chat with the EFC supporters behind the goal whilst the gme was going on? I believe he walked off during one game and hasn't been seen since! No doubt our supporters can correct me if I am wrong.

I remember Eddie Green telling Gary(?) Bowyer of Carshalton to "get up, there's nothing wrong with you". Bowyer collapsed in the dressing room and was rushed to Chase Farm with a ruptured spleen. In fairness, though, I don't remember Eddie ever doing much else wrong. That incident just shows the problems refs face.

I think you're right that he retired part way through a game, having had as much abuse as he could take.
