who is the best referee in the Esse Senior League

After each match, both clubs give their marks out of 10 for the Ref that day. These are submitted to the Ref Appointments Officer and then go to the FA for "promotion" purposes, every March.

What is more important to answer this question is that the leading referee always gets our Cup Final "middle" and that will be announced very shortly though I understand through the proverbial grapevine that the "favourite " is a long way ahead in marks. So, when we find out - you, the clubs can say " We got him there" for which I am sure he will be eternally grateful !

Nothing to stop you guessing though - wonder how many will get it spot on !

thank you LC, for your views are appreciated, keep up the great work you and your colleagues do week in week out, that we dont see.

As you said lets see who will get the vote.

I mentioned some time back I came across a young lad refereeing a youth match in the Echo League Under 15's when my son was playing in the match, I gave my compliments to him and sent an email to Terry Thacker at Essex FA hope he followed it up.

Got to be Rob Whitton, have watched him officiate on a number of matches, and he has never failed to impress, what i find with Rob is that he will "TALK" to players during the game, which helps immensley. Top Bloke in my/our clubs estimation, and if he doesn't get the middle i will be very surprised.

he can see under artifical light, its lack of artifical light that stopped the game.only 1 light on each pylon on far side was working and the pitch had been moved over but lights not altered, both keepers had conceded goals without moving as both said they couldnt see the ball.if there was nothing wrong with the lights why did they have to be fixed before the next game?

We could have played through if he hadn't stopped. The lights were still better than Southend's! I didn't say there was nothing wrong with them but it wasn't bad enough to call the game off until it had been stopped for ages, we'd have been virtually at full time by the time it was called off.

That's the first I'd heard about the 'keepers not being able to see the ball, I thought it was just because they were both useless on the day! Reckon you're making that up.

We might turn around and do a John MacEnroe - You cannot be serious! Which is more likely knowing us lot!

HA! couldn't see I think it was a case of could see. Manor with their own inept floodlights play the 4-4-2, formation in brail after 3.30. I saw their back four worshiping the burning lights in the sky. The lights were only overhauled to stop a bunch of chancers like Manor pulling the same stunt again.

Once a good ref always a good ref - Arguably one of the best we have EVER had was in charge of our first ever Cup Final, the Challenge Match between Billericay and Witham Town in 1971-72, he then had a brilliant Football League career and is still going strong ... I note on the ECFA web site that he has been granted the County Veterans Final this season, 33 years later- that is Dave Axcell !
