I'm a Spurs fan and it didn't offend me.It's better than 'Gobshites',which is how Friutbat refures to Liverpool fc.

Andy, it doesn't mean what you think it means. That is the nickname for Spurs fans which we ourselves use, and it features in Spurs own songs and chants. It has a long and compicated history which I won't bore you with, but its origins could actually be described as anti-racist.

It's the same as using the nickname 'Gooners' when refuring to Arsenal.Spurs fans would use the word Gooner instead of Gunner as a derogatory term.Arsenal fans enbraced the word themselves and now use it to describe themselves.The same happened with the word 'Yid'.Yes, its used against spurs fans as a derogatory term,but the fans themselves have embraced it (and as Invis rightly says) now use it in songs and chants.

Coz EFC fans don't call themselves Nomads and probably get p**ssed of when they are called that. Spurs fans call themselves yiddos and when the team come out of the players' tunnel at games the chats of "Yiddo, Yiddos" echoes around th ground.

It would be like the Abbey or Romford posters calling us Townies to try to wind us up,and then we embraced the word Townies and started calling ourselves it.
