Im setting off from Cardiff at 9am next Saturday so i can make the Tonbridge game (i reckon travelling 240 miles will make me the furthest traveller for that game).

Following this from CardiffBTFC in another thread, i was wondering what is the longest distance anyone has travelled in one day to see Ricay play a home game?

The longest I've gone is back from Paris. Its probably not the furthest journey but leaving a hot girl behind may have made it one of the most difficult <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Flew home from The Hague (I was working in Holland and told them there was nothing else I could do until the following week) on Tuesday afternoon so I could go to Billericay v Romford in the League Cup a few years ago, then straight after the game had to drive to Portsmouth for work the next day. Don't know mileage.

Another time I was working on an offshore platfrom off the coast of Holland and as I had finished my work early the company arranged a helicopter to take me back on land on Friday instead of Sunday so I could go to watch Billericay play the next day against Berkhamsted at home, I think, we drew 1-1 and it was a poor game. Don't know the mileage but found out a few months later that it had cost the company about £2000 to put on the 20 seater helicopter specially for me as I was the only person (apart from the pilots) on it!

Everyone has a story like the above etc, I'm sure some people have flown back from somewhere like America for a game.

Quality, all that way for a league cup tie against Romford, top stuff.

I wouldn't quite say that. Wouldn't do it now. Although I did drive to Exeter for a cup replay on a Tuesday night... along with about 500 others.

Here we go then ! Can't match Martin in travelling from "overseas" but can recall rushing back from up North to get to two midweek games. Without spending half an hour checking up in old diaries, I would almost certainly have been in the Bury/Preston areas in the morning both times and remember diverting via Derby to have a nosey at the old Baseball Ground, being there around 4pm and just making a match with Collier Row in the 90's on one occasion. I also clearly remember just making the kick off at Heybridge from a similar day's driving - and was rewarded for my efforts with a first half hat-trick from Leon Gutzmore in a 5-3 win I think!
