Halifax & Nathan Bunce

I thought the best team won, without question and whilst the linesman did have a mare, these sort of decisions do tend to even themselves out over a season.

 

The point I want to make is about the Fleet defence which looked vulnerable every time Halifax came at it.No doubt the superior fitness of professional players played a part, but they were just sweeping past us EVERY time.

 

To borrow a contradiction in terms from Liam's Lines in the programme, I'm not going to pick out any individual, but'... I thought Nathan Bunce had an absolute nightmare. I'm amazed no-one else has picked up on it. Putting his "shot" from a corner to one side (without question the worst shot I have EVER seen from a Fleet player, and there's been some poor ones!)he was constantly several yards off the pace as he lumbered aimlessly about. He dragged the whole back four out of shape and i can only assume that Gledhill got 'Man of the Match' for keeping some sort of back line together. He certainly did little else from where I was. He has no idea what to do with the ball at his feet, and whilst in fairness he got his head to quite a few balls they all went either straight up in the air or straight back to Halifax.

 

I don't like to be this critical of a Fleet player and he could be a really nice guy, but I'm sorry he is not good enough to wear the red and white. Hopefully now Liam's seen him in action he will realise this too.

 

Bring back Chris Moore, not the worlds greatest but a damn site better.

Hang fire Pogo. While he did`nt set the place on fire it was his first outing for 2 months & the first time he had played with Gledders as a centre half combination. I thought he got the better of their taller players in the air.

pogo shut the **** up you idiot, Bunce looked pretty good from where i was standing .Halifax are full time and with a bit more luck and some poor refereeing decisions there could have been a different outcome

To me, Bunce looked slow and out of touch. He let the through ball for their third goal go past too easily. Frankly Halifax exploited our defence well, with Bunce's lack of pace and Gledhill's lack of height. Their long ball tactics worked a treat and all credit to them for working out the best strategy to win.

maybe but they are full time and thats the first time bunce and gleds have played together you have to remember most of the lads had been to work not like halifax players.
