pulling in the punters

Recommended Posts

420 for a local derby! I thought it was the wrong decision to play last nights game on a Tuesday when Chelsea were live on the TV - couldn't both teams have agreed to move it to a Monday or Wednesday or even a Thursday? I think we should also look at playing the odd Sunday (although personally that would be a nightmare for me), especially when the Thurrock game drew 500.

I think we need to be a little more creative with fixture dates where possible to get in the extra punters - especially as the gate receipts is about all we can rely on.

I went to Worthing - Lewes last year around Christmas time and they picked a date with no other games, league or non league, being played. Result - nearly 1,500 there (ok, it had to be abandoned at half time cos of the rain but that's not the point.)

What to people think?

i agree, a Tuesday night with Chelsea v Barcelona on the box is not ideal, but we don't have a great deal of choice for when we play our matches at the moment, due to the number of games we've got to get through.

Well it's just a shame that it was this week with the Champions League stuff on the telly. Don't think we had too much choice as to when to fit it in, and as both sides have to agree to the date, I'm sure Windsor weren't too bothered about the low crowd, after all, they can still expect a 'bumper' crowd on the Bank Holiday fixture.

It doesn't help with fixture congestion but what about an experiment with Friday night football next season. It's been tried before with success most notably at Tranmere - avoiding clashes with other local fixtures on the Saturday.

from what i saw he got hold of the player by the neck but that is a sending off on it's own.

It's not so much what he did but the fact that he'd run 30 yards to do it! If a player is caught up in an incident in the heat of the moment there's almost a case of mitigating circumstances. Not that thick t**t though. He'd have run half the length of the pitch if he'd had to just to throw his weight around and look where it got him. He's a bloody liability.

He didn't run 30 yards to grab a player. He ran up to the referee and was then pushed, grabbed and head butted. The evidence is there for all to see. Just take a look at the cut above his eye and the blood on his shirt.
