Slough Town 3-1 Windsor & Eton

Despite going behind to a late 1st half goal, Slough bounced back and (with a little help from Windsor goalkeeper Chuck Martini) deservedly claimed a 3-1 victory.

Slough started this local derby, re-arranged from December 27, and immediately went on the attack, but Matt Seedel was caught offside following a through ball.

Soon afterwards Glen Harris went close with a shot from the edge of the area. Josias Carbon also squandered a good chance when he put a shot over the bar following James Saulsbury’s long ball.

Windsor also had their fair share of possession, but made their first real attack of the game, forcing Shaun Allaway into a good save from a shot from the edge of the area.

Windsor’s recent signing, Jamie Jarvis from Hampton & Richmond Borough managed to get himself sent off by entering a fight between players from both teams, sparking celebrations amongst the Slough fans!

But for all Slough’s efforts, 45 minutes of football went unrewarded as they were undone by basic defensive errors. A Windsor forward slammed the ball in following a goalmouth scramble.

2nd half

Rebels manager Eddie Denton obviously wasn’t happy with the way the team had performed during the first half, and sent the team out some 5-10 minutes early, but they had to wait 20 minutes for an equaliser. Matt Murphy’s shot from close range was saved by Chuck Martini, the ball bounced to midfielder Veil Hakki who managed to miss the ball completely, but Matt Seedel was on hand to smash in the rebound.

The hosts took the lead when Chuck Martini went to punch a ball, but missed it, and the ball bounced over the line from the back of Matt Murphy’s head.

Windsor hit back almost straight away, but a shot went wide when a Windsor forward went one-on-one with Shaun Allaway whilst under pressure.

The Rebels almost undid their own comeback when Shaun Allaway went to clear the ball, but it rebounded off a Windsor player. Luckily for him, the ball went well wide of the goal.

Slough nearly put the game beyond any doubt, but Daniel Cann’s shot from Leigh Mason’s through ball was saved by the feet of Chuck Martini.

The Rebels made amends for that mistake when Matt Murphy scored his second of the game for 3-1. Leigh Mason’s shot was saved by Martini, but the ball went high over the area and Murphy managed to direct the ball into the empty net.

First half the chav's were great. Kept themselves to themselves and joined in with the fun at times

Still they made themselves look like right twats. I just wished one of the slough fans sorted them out and taught them a lesson

We were waiting for the ball to crawl into the net as it wasn't clear it was going in. I didn't think it was a foul but I'm looking forward to seeing it again. My impression was Chuck failed miserably to gather the ball and Matt Murphy got something on it.

Refs generally favour the keeper if their bodies clash but i don't think they did. Murphy's head connected with the ball as Martini's flappy hands got it so on that basis, no foul as the keeper never had it under control. Mind you, I've never seen Chuck have the ball under control!

Spoke with Parky at the final whistle and he thought it wasn't. With the limited keeper experience I have, I would have been miffed if it had been given against me and I thought it was a foul.

Movie is up now anyway, so go have a look and form your own judgement, not that it is that clear.
