who should have stayed

I think Vinnie coud have made the team even with Jackson in the squad.

Jude could have possiby made the squad but didn't apply himself. His long throws were worth a goal or two!!

Taff - Nah! agree with Lordy there!

John Martin should have stayed (from a Hx perspective) he was young and has a long career ahead of him but went missing too often!

Ollie was quality but not sure how old he was though? And not up there with J.Stuart.

John Keeling - Great player and will probably be available at the end of the season!!

Kerrigan - steady but would not have made the team (one for the future?)

Mark Graham - Good player on his day but wouldn't have got a sniff in the 'A' Team!

Danny Gay - No Bayes but Good Enough!!

well we've got our eye on one or two for next season that will undoubtedly please you all....

its not an easy time at the moment to get players to be truthful and we've still got a 'bit' of tidying up to do before we start rebuilding the team....

don't expect too much for the rest of this season....

but we'll have a team competing in the top six next year...thats for sure...

Good discussion lads and one or two pointers in my opinion.

G MW was picked as the first choice at start seson but you gotta admire Bayzo, even then he was encouraging everybody, a thorough professional and so on his pen area domination just shades it.

Tarks at RB different class

Searley at LB once again quality

CB Paul McCarthy and a great skipper, very influential

CB Jamie Stuart just shades LM if only cos he's faster off the mark but LM great bloke and quality player.

OR JK never forget his goal against Burton and the step over every game, but Simon Wormull's crosses and all round play must be mentioned.

CM Simon Weatherstone ball winner and a powerful shot

CM Darren Caskey, the best player to ever wear a HXFC shirt

OL Johnny Martin would be in my side cos of his versatility and ability to play in several roles

CF Danny Shipp his devotion to HX FC and ability to hold the ball and score vital goals

IF Wayne Purser 15 from 16 speaks for itself, the best striker I've seen at this level.

That's my team for the last year or so and it's all about opinions of course

Whatever happens the rest of the season Unc, you can rest assured (and I think I speak for most if not all of us),that we shall all still be singing the name of Hornchurch as loud and proud as we have through these troubled times..

We love you hornchurch, we do

We love you hornchurch, we do

We love you hornchurch, we do

Oh Hornchurch we love you!!

Who out of the current squad do people feel are likely or would particularly like to stay for next season?

For me it would have to be:

Scott Gooding

Jamie Southon

Danny Hill

The Doog

Terry Bowes

Chris Stowe

Micky Desborough

Lockie

And of course, the youth team players who have come in and have done a terrific job.

ha ha....no thank you westy.....couldn't put us all thru that again...

No...what I meant was we shall put a budget in place that is self funding thru the clubs activities and that will be big enough to compete top six....

I notice there are some rather snide anon postings on confguide....

these people never learn do they...

OK lads, we could move the topic on maybe, to the greatest Hornchurch player? For me he has to not only be a decent player, but a determined gutsy player that was proud to wear the shirt. For me there is only one candidate, Mr. Steven Jones! Top bloke and pure class.

LOL Unc, and I love fairgroung rides!!

Sounds like a great move.

As for greatest ever player, I will have to look his name up but I've just been reading about our exploits in the 61/62 season.

Seems there were a few absolute legends that seem to have been forgotten.

But for recent years I'd have to go for old judas himself!!! Sorry chaps just my opinion.
