***MASSIVE 1980'S UPDATE FINALLY COMPLETED !!! ***

At last, the 80's update to the history site is now online and the main points of interest are...

150+ new or radically updated 80's player profiles

Result pages for 80/81 to 88/89 with lin...he camera icons

Two 30 question 80's quizzes

and

11 new 80's team photos

I dread to think how much time I've spent / wasted on this update but we're talking 100's of hours and over a year's work so at least give it a look.

If you've no idea about the 80's then the best thing to do is to go to the result pages to start with as they have a 'clickable' list of all the players for each season.

Or how about these 80's icons as a starting point...

Neil Cugley

Frank Ovard

Joe Radford

Mark Munday

Vic Medus

...quite a few of the player profiles have had input from the players themselves, including John Munday, Paul Jefcoate, Marc Smelt and Neil Edmonds.

There's also an excellent general article about the 1980's by Neil Wyatt here...

Neil Wyatt's Teenage Diaries

...and fascinating accounts of the 81/82 and 82/83 seasons here....

The Hartsdown Historian

The club history page has also been updated and so has the 'Who are They ?' bit of the gallery...

Who are they ? HELP REQUIRED !!!!

...I'm hoping the likes of Cookie and TonyM will be able to help out here - maybe spot a familiar face or two from your Sunday League days who may have played for Margate / Thanet ?

There's also a lot of 'UNKNOWNS' in the reserve team photos of the gallery which people who played locally might be able to help out with so please have a look and see if you can help me put a few names to faces.

Think that's pretty much everything - any chance whoever moderates this board could make this topic sticky for a few days ? I reserve the right to keep on blatantly moving the topic up the board if not !!

Let me know if you spot any errors, no matter how small and any feedback would be much appreciated.

I think the whole site and in particular the 8o's update is just a phenominal piece of work.

It should also be a mandotory part of CK's training regime for the players to realise just how much the club means to so many and the amount of effort Jeff has put in.

If the players gave a similar amount of effort we would win every game 10-nil.

Just outstanding piece of literature.

Broadstairs gave us Dickens.

In two hundred years people will realise that Margate gave us Jeff Trice

I am sad enough to know some of the 'unknowns' from the reserve team pics.

In the 82/83 pic, the guy second from the left in the front row is Chris Vasiliou.

In the 81/82 pic, the trainer (back row, far right) is Colin Hill (father of Paul). And I'm pretty sure the player third from the left in the same row is Adrian Collis. In another reserve pic a player called Stringer is mentioned, his first name was Leigh (I went to school with him).

Anyway, that's enough excitement for one night. I'm going for a lie down...

Thanks to those of you that have taken the trouble to post here. Glad a few people liked the update.

Thanks to Mr Curtain for the picture and info - I don't have your e-mail address so drop me a line when you get a chance.
