Danny Cowley leaves Romford?

Recommended Posts

I just heard from Danny and he said he was fed up with the lack of games and would be looking to leave at the end of the season . I know he is on contract but where will he go? A reported £100 per week big money <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Always rumours and who would blame them. However I would like to think that if the carrot of a new ground and promotion was a reality, who knows.

Players come and go, but I think you will find that neither get a penny at Romford.

Danny was on bloody good money at Boreham Wood but found that the travelling and balancing it with work hardly made it worthwhile. He's on a nominal contract at Romford but that was part of the transfer agreement, so yes it's doubtful whether he actually gets anything to speak of. He just wanted to keep playing and was happy to drop down to the ESL - just not so sure what he thinks of it now!

If we could play ALL our games at home he WOULD get a regular game cos so many of the other grounds in the ESL are sub standard because they can't afford the level of groundmanship to keep them up to scratch.

However. Looking through Saturday's results in Sunday's NLP I couldn't help noticing that many clubs at levels higher than five also had their games postponed so there's no guarantee that Danny or Nicky would have got a game had they been in a higher league!

We've probably just been unlucky, because we haven't lost any home games to the weather at first or reserve team level. If we'd been at home at all since the Enfield game we'd probably have played more than 45 minutes of football. Even the two abandonments we've had since the end of Jan were not down to the weather (unless you count darkness as weather. And I'm not sure what was wrong with the lino's missus last week but presumably it wasn't simply because she was feeling a bit chilly).

I was speaking to Reedy last Thursday and he said that both the Cowleys have been talking about next season, and they seem to want to stay. It's not about the money otherwise they would of never come to us in the first place. Also they are helping with the summer training scheme.
