Possible Points Targets......

Been looking over the past 5 seasons to see what sort of totals will get the key positions.... Did this on a points/match basis to account for a couple of 46 game seasons.

 

The average pts/game for the champions over the past 5 seasons is 2.33 which would see a return of 98 points... Can't see anybody getting that high a total this time out - Yeading could get there by winning all their remaining games. The past 5 seasons (except 01/02) have all been won by a fairly large margin, and this total probably reflects that.

 

More realistically the average pts/game for 2nd place over the past 5 seasons is 2.01, giving a return of just over 84 points. Yeading need 6 wins from 11 games to get there... us and boretree need 8 wins from our remaining games. I reckon 85pts is likely to be a winning total this time out, barring some freaky results over the rest of the season.

 

To get that spot in the play-offs, the average pts/game for 5th place is 1.7 which gives a return of about 71 points. With all the teams on the fringes of the play-off places failing to win yesterday, I reckon 5th place is Leyton's to throw away now.

We've set ourselves the target of 86 points for the title and 72 for the play-offs.

 

Either way, I think we're both going up. Our man at the Ding was not impressed yesterday. Dodgy pen. right at the death got them an undeserved point.
