Win all of our eight games with this sort of fixture congestion, there more chance of Chelsea winning the FA Cup this season <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Talking about stating the obvious...

You think its big and clever slagging the team off and saying they don't have any chance of being promoted? We probably all realise it's not going to happen, but don't rule it out just yet...

You know what the team can do, so its up to the team to prove us all wrong. Slagging them off won't get them anywhere.

The fact that we have 7 games in hand isn't the team's fault. We really could have done without the Hendon and Folkestone games being called off.

Of these seven I think we'll do well to win 4. Why not be optimistic though, that's what football fans do. It's not over til it's over, and all that.

Perhaps he would take you up on it if he knew who you were.

I personally believe it will not happen this season simply because of the fixture congestion and the small squad available. I am confident we will finish half-way up. But that would make me happy.

IN 1981 WE WENT ON A 20 GAME UNDEFEATED RUN NOT ONLY TO WIN THE LEAGUE BUT WIN THE BERKS AND BUCKS CUP AND HITACHI CUP YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN.

IT WAS A FANTASTIC SEASON WATCHING THE REBELS.

WITH CONCISTANCY AND LUCK WE COULD FINISH WHAT HAS A BEEN A GOOD SEASON INTO A VERY GOOD ONE.

What a team , I thought Pat Morrisey was excellent.

I remember the season before when we were bottom, sacked Arpino and replaced him with Churchill with 10 games left. We played Hitchin at home (I think) and we beat them 10-0 with Charlie Marks (who Churchill transformed for those 10 games) scoring a 25 yrd curler.

Next Season we won the league/B&B/League Cup....memories

Never give up !!!!!!

And there you have it-that was a good side this present one isn't.I keep reading about our good defense but none of our present defenders would rank in any previous Slough "top ten" defenders list.

I think you've got your point across now. You don't rate the current team. Fair enough. Out of interest how long have you supported Slough for, if at all? Just trying to build a picture of what kind of memories you have of Slough teams.

Do other clubs have their own version of our

opto-mystic. Do Burnley have supporters moaning that the current Burnley strikers are not a patch on Wilf Radish who scored 9 in the 13-4 defeat of Ashington Injured-Miners in 1911.

Do Accrington Stanley fans moan that the current lot are not a patch on the crew from the season they went out of business.

Actually considerering the way sport moves forward even at this level I doubt very much if many players from 25 years ago would get a sniff of a game today at the level they played at then.

When you have slipped down the ladder there is no benefit to harping on about the past. Did not hear the AFC fans moaning that none of there team would get into the 1988 FA Cup side.

You can only judge players by the commitmnet they give you. Any of ours not giving their all? If so then critisize them for that not for bot acheiveing some vague standard. Anyone feeling cheated by the players this year? They may not be about to be snapped up by Real Madrid, but as Haddow showed they are what is required at this level.

i think it would be good for slough to finish in the top half, we dont quite have the consistancy to win enough to get into the playoffs, but itd be nice to just see slough on the league table on sky sports news!

im not sure all our cup runs and the fixture backlog because of them warrant a place in the playoff places, im not sure the team could be consistant playing two games a week, it takes a hell of a lot!

Okay final word on the subject( from me anyway ).
You have thrown in an old chesnut there about players not making it today, at the level they used to play at, so wrong! a good player will always adapt, the fitness levels have change yes but those players from way back, given the same diets and fitness and money incentives would be just as they were then, maybe better certainly not worse.Anyone who cannot see that does not really understand what "skill" is.
As to your other points, if players are not giving commitment they should not be playing for us.
And finally Haddow !!!! would he have jumped ship if we were in the top two or three, I have to agree with you that he's at his level of skill in this league, but looked good on occassions compared with some of his team-mates.Yet again would not have made anyones "top twenty" of Slough outfield players-cheers.
